Google Gemini Will Soon Get Full Access Permission to Use Your Computer
Unreleased Gemini Desktop Full Access could let the assistant control files, apps, and network activity on a Mac.
A hidden setting in Google's Gemini Desktop app reportedly describes a Full Access permission that could let Gemini read, modify, or delete files anywhere on a Mac, control apps such as Mail, Safari, and Messages, and use the network without approving every connection. The capability is unannounced and has been linked, without confirmation, to a future Gemini 4 experience. Security researchers warn that prompt injection from malicious pages, documents, or email could steer an agent with those privileges, although Google is said to still require confirmation for purchases, account creation, legal terms, and sensitive personal-data changes.
