Cops Can Bypass iPhone’s Automatic Reboot to Get Into Locked Phones, Leaked Video Claims
Magnet Forensics' GrayKey Preserve claims to freeze iPhones in After First Unlock, bypassing Apple's inactivity reboot.
A leaked Magnet Forensics training video obtained by 404 Media claims GrayKey Preserve and Evidence Preservation Mode keep seized iPhones in the After First Unlock state, defeating Apple's inactivity reboot after 72 hours locked. The tools reportedly disable cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth after initial access and aim to preserve data that would otherwise expire, including cached locations, recently deleted photos, and iMessages. Researcher Jiska Classen said Magnet may manipulate the device clock or disable expiration tasks, though the video does not confirm the method. Apple and Magnet did not comment.
