Inside Hyperdrive: How we solved a rare Hyperdrive MySQL caching bug
Cloudflare made Hyperdrive MySQL generally available after fixing a rare cache bug that returned empty results.
Cloudflare said Hyperdrive, its database connection pooler for Workers, now supports MySQL generally after a beta that required about 20 bug fixes. Engineers corrected character-set handling by negotiating utf8mb4 and reapplying it after COM_RESET_CONNECTION. A rare caching bug, seen about 0.001 percent of the time for one high-volume customer and only when caching was enabled, returned empty results for queries that should have had data. Cloudflare traced it to shared CDN-cache behavior between Hyperdrive client and endpoint nodes running in the same data center.
