World model companies are keeping a lot of secrets
World model startups AMI Labs and World Labs are staying quiet on product plans, commercializing slowly despite heavy funding and industry buzz.
TechCrunch reports that leading world model companies, including Yann LeCun's AMI Labs and Fei-Fei Li's World Labs, remain deliberately vague about products and timelines despite significant funding. AMI Labs VP Michael Rabbat said the company is still in a research phase, while World Labs' Marble is the most developed product but mostly demonstrates capabilities in media creation and explorable environments. Data supplier Physicl says customer secrecy prevents it from building maximally useful training data. The piece argues secrecy is strategic, since announcing a product would quickly attract funded rivals including OpenAI and Anthropic.
