I created an interactive digital avatar of myself — and you can talk to it
A TechCrunch journalist tests a Synthesia interactive avatar trained only on one of her articles.
A TechCrunch journalist consented to photos and a two-minute voice sample so Synthesia could build personal and interactive digital avatars, the first it has made for a journalist. The interactive twin, produced in a couple of days, only answers questions about one venture-fraud article and redirects other prompts. Synthesia, originally based in the U.K. and now with a New York office, reported a $4 billion valuation and more than $100 million in ARR. Its products span scripted video avatars, agentic Roleplay Sessions, and an API that can pair its video and voice models with Cartesia, ElevenLabs, Google, or OpenAI.
