USN-8915-1: FFmpeg vulnerabilities
Ubuntu's USN-8915-1 fixes FFmpeg flaws, including possible code execution and several denial-of-service bugs.
Ubuntu published USN-8915-1 for multiple FFmpeg vulnerabilities. Momoko Shiraishi found incorrect memory handling, CVE-2026-30754, that could allow arbitrary code execution on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, 18.04 LTS, 20.04 LTS, 22.04 LTS, and 24.04 LTS. CVE-2026-38344 can cause denial of service through flawed memory operations, and CVE-2026-38346, CVE-2026-38348, and CVE-2026-38349 can cause denial of service through incorrect arithmetic. The notice does not report active exploitation.
- CVE-2026-30754 may allow arbitrary code execution via bad memory handling.
- That issue affects Ubuntu 16.04 LTS through 24.04 LTS.
- Four other CVEs can cause denial of service.
- The notice does not report exploitation in the wild.
