Re: AI slops from Eve
oss-security subscriber Jeffrey Walton asks posters to refer to computer algorithms as 'it' rather than personifying them as 'he' or 'she'.
In a reply titled 'Re: AI slops from Eve' on the oss-security mailing list, Jeffrey Walton argues that computer algorithms should be referred to as 'it' rather than personified with gendered pronouns. He compares algorithms to inanimate property and says they lack a moral compass. The post contains no vulnerability information or other security content.
Posted by Jeffrey Walton on Sep 10 Hi Alexander, One small nit: Please refer to computer algorithms as "it", not "who." Please refer to computer algorithms as "it", not "he" or "she." A computer algorithm is not alive and does not have a moral compass. Do not personify it. It is merely a piece of property like a brick. Jeff
