Deno is joining Cloudflare
Cloudflare is acquiring Deno to advance self-hosted Workers, then will end Deno runtime development after one year.
Cloudflare is acquiring Deno to extend celld, the open-source Durable Objects implementation Deno released in August, and make self-hosted workerd a supported way to run the Workers programming model. Cloudflare says it will ship monthly Deno runtime releases with bug fixes and security updates for one more year. After that year, Cloudflare will stop developing the Deno runtime, though the project will remain available.

The bad news is that Deno itself will not be maintained by Cloudflare beyond the next year: We will support the Deno runtime for another year with monthly releases containing bug fixes and security updates.
