Confidence-Guided Protocol IR for LLM-Aided Security Protocol Modeling
A confidence-guided protocol IR lets experts audit LLM drafts before generating Tamarin security models.
Researchers present a human-in-the-loop framework that turns natural-language protocol descriptions into Tamarin-verifiable formal models. A protocol intermediate representation captures participants, message flows, value provenance, cryptographic operations, proof targets, and compromise assumptions so experts can audit semantics before generation. An interface highlights low-confidence fields, and LLMs produce drafts that verification tools then check. Code and artifacts are available in the TamarinAgent repository.
- A protocol IR sits between natural-language parsing and Tamarin model generation.
- The IR records participants, messages, cryptography, proofs, and compromise assumptions.
- Confidence highlighting directs experts to the riskiest semantic fields.
- Code and verification artifacts are published as TamarinAgent.

1 min read at arxiv.orgLarge language models offer a promising interface for translating natural-language protocol descriptions into formal security models, but their outputs remain difficult to trust without expert validation. In this paper, we present a human-in-the-loop framework for generating Tamarin-verifiable formal models of security protocols.
