CISA Warns of Critical ScreenConnect Vulnerability Actively Exploited in Attacks

Enterprises Warned of Attacks Exploiting WSO2 Vulnerability

Attackers are actively exploiting CVE-2026-5430 (CVSS 10), a WSO2 JWT authentication bypass, to access enterprise API credentials and sensitive data.

WatchTowr's honeypot network recorded the first exploitation attempt of CVE-2026-5430 on September 13, roughly two months after the CVE record was published in early August. The flaw, patched by WSO2 in April with an advisory in May, carries a maximum CVSS score of 10 and allows JWT authentication bypass via tokens signed with unsupported algorithms, enabling unauthorized access and full account takeover. A forged JWT observed in the wild granted access to API backend endpoints, credentials, and consumer keys and secrets for every registered application. WSO2's API Manager, API Control Plane, Traffic Manager, and Universal Gateway are affected, and the platform serves nearly 1,000 enterprise customers in banking, government, telecom, and logistics.

CVE-2026-67277 is a missing-authentication flaw (CWE-306) in the bandwidth-test (btest) service that can expose kernel memory and cause denial of service; CVE-2026-86060 (CWE-88) lets attackers manipulate the trusted RouterOS policy mask for privilege escalation. CISA designated CVE-2026-86060 as requiring forensic triage under Binding Operational Directive 26-04, meaning organizations should hunt for compromise indicators, not just patch. SOCRadar reported active exploitation of CVE-2025-25249 (CVSS 9.8) in FortiOS CAPWAP, deploying a Node.js RAT called PivotC2 that exfiltrates Exchange mailboxes to Wasabi cloud storage; 178 devices were compromised out of 30,000 scanned IPs, attributed to a Russian-speaking financially motivated group. Palo Alto disclosed CVE-2026-0310, a 9.2-rated buffer overflow enabling root code execution on PA-Series firewalls, and Fortinet disclosed CVE-2026-84393, a ZTNA certificate validation MITM flaw. Cyera also revealed CVE-2026-6471 ('PostGREShell'), a 12-year-old PostgreSQL logical-decoding flaw allowing code execution via REPLICATION-privileged accounts.

Hackers exploit Tencent app flaw to deploy GrayRabbit malware

UNC3569 actively exploits one-click RCE in Tencent Sogou Input Method to deploy the GrayRabbit backdoor, patched in version 16.3.0.3498.

Gen Digital reports that China-aligned UNC3569 is actively exploiting CVE-2026-51990, a one-click RCE chain in Tencent Sogou Input Method for Windows, which has hundreds of millions of installations in China. The chain abuses unvalidated command-line argument injection via the sgbiz: URI handler, unrestricted URL navigation in a CEF-based webview, and an unsandboxed outdated Chromium 80 engine to gain code execution and install the GrayRabbit backdoor. The analyzed malware is a mature 64-bit variant with RC4-encoded C2 config supporting reverse shells, file transfer, and reflective plugin loading. Tencent patched the argument validation in version 16.3.0.3498, but the browser engine remains outdated and unsandboxed.

More JFrog Artifactory bugs under attack, and all 3 have patches

Multiple attackers are exploiting three JFrog Artifactory CVEs, including critical auth-bypass CVE-2026-82329, to gain admin access and install backdoors.

Wiz confirmed in-the-wild exploitation of all three JFrog Artifactory vulnerabilities: CVE-2026-42018 (high, improper authentication token leak), CVE-2026-42016 (high, privilege escalation), and CVE-2026-82329 (critical, unauthenticated authentication bypass). Starting August 15, attackers chained the first two bugs against self-hosted instances to gain admin access and dropped a custom Rust backdoor for C2; from September 1-8 several attackers exploited CVE-2026-82329. Post-exploitation included persistent admin accounts, Groovy plugins for remote code execution, web shells, token minting, key theft, and reconnaissance. Patching velocity has been slow, with 49-62% of organizations still vulnerable to individual bugs weeks after fixes were released.

AI-powered attack exploited PaperCut flaws to hack 395 organizations

AI-driven campaign exploited PaperCut flaws CVE-2026-81578 and CVE-2026-82078, compromising 440 servers at 395 organizations in 48 countries.

GreyNoise reports a likely Russian-speaking threat actor used hundreds of AI agents combining OpenAI Codex and DeepSeek models to build, test, and refine exploits for CVE-2026-81578 and CVE-2026-82078 in PaperCut NG/MF, launching the campaign on August 31. At least 440 PaperCut instances at 395 organizations across 48 countries were compromised, with the education sector accounting for roughly half of victims and the US most targeted. Attackers harvested credentials from 280 victims, obtained OS or domain secrets from 147, and gained admin privileges at 12 organizations, using LSASS dumping, pass-the-hash, noPac, and DCSync to dump NTDS.DIT. The adversary went from empty workspace to first RCE in under four hours, and compromised at least 11 organizations within 26 seconds once the campaign launched.
