Google Pixel phones pwned in zero-click attacksnew

CISA added actively exploited zero-click Pixel modem flaw CVE-2026-58704 to its KEV catalog, giving federal agencies three days to patch.

Google disclosed CVE-2026-58704, a high-severity improper authorization flaw in Pixel phones' cellular modems that bypasses permission checks and escalates privileges with no user interaction, noting limited, targeted exploitation. CISA added it to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog with a September 19 deadline for federal agencies. Such zero-click modem bugs are a frequent vector for commercial spyware. The Register also notes two recently KEV-listed Chromium V8 flaws, CVE-2026-85046 and CVE-2026-87491, which Proofpoint says four espionage groups chained in intrusions.

Critical ScreenConnect flaw now actively exploited in attacks

CISA confirms active exploitation of critical ConnectWise ScreenConnect flaw CVE-2026-84869, ordering federal agencies to mitigate within three days.

ConnectWise's ScreenConnect flaw CVE-2026-84869, an improper privilege management and missing authorization bug, lets attackers with basic privileges transfer or execute files through active remote sessions in low-complexity attacks without user interaction. It is patched in ScreenConnect 26.6.5; CISA added it to the KEV catalog and ordered US federal agencies to secure systems within three days. Shadowserver tracks over 1,000 unpatched exposed instances, mostly in North America (758) and Europe (180). This is the fourth actively exploited ScreenConnect flaw since 2024; earlier issues were abused by Kimsuky and ransomware gangs.

U.S. CISA adds Cisco Secure Email Gateway flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog

CISA added actively exploited Cisco Secure Email Gateway zero-day CVE-2026-76461 (CVSS 9.8) to KEV; federal agencies must patch by September 17, 2026.

CISA added CVE-2026-76461 (CVSS 9.8), a critical zero-day in Cisco AsyncOS for Cisco Secure Email Gateway, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. The flaw stems from insufficient validation in email parsing, letting an unauthenticated remote attacker send a crafted email with malicious SQL statements to achieve arbitrary command execution with root privileges. Cisco confirmed active exploitation in the wild, notes no workarounds exist, and recommends checking mail_logs for suspicious SQL statements like 'COPY.*TO PROGRAM' on every cluster device. Under BOD 22-01, FCEB agencies must remediate by September 17, 2026.
