JFrog Artifactory Vulnerabilities Actively Exploited in the Wild to Gain Administrative Control

Wiz observed active exploitation of three JFrog Artifactory flaws used to mint admin tokens, deploy malicious plugins, and install Rust backdoors on self-hosted servers.

JFrog Artifactory flaws CVE-2026-42016, CVE-2026-42018, and CVE-2026-82329 are being actively exploited against self-hosted instances, enabling token exposure, token scope abuse, and a critical default-configuration authentication bypass. Wiz observed attackers chaining CVE-2026-42018 and CVE-2026-42016 from August 15 to September 8, 2026, creating persistent administrator accounts in under five minutes, deploying malicious Groovy plugins, and installing Rust-based backdoors. At disclosure, 67-69 percent of Wiz-monitored organizations ran vulnerable instances; fixed releases include 7.111.21, 7.117.28, 7.125.20, 7.133.29, 7.146.38, and 7.161.20 or later depending on branch.

CVE-2026-82437: Apache Storm Logviewer: Log Access Controls Not Enforced by Logviewer

Apache Storm Logviewer ignores logs.users and logs.groups ACLs for daemon logs, letting unauthorized users read sensitive logs.

CVE-2026-82437 (severity: moderate) affects Apache Storm Logviewer (storm-webapp) versions 3.0.0 before 3.1.0. The Logviewer offers logs.users and logs.groups settings for operators to control who may read log content, but for daemon logs the access decision combined the "this is a daemon log" flag with the authorizer result in a way that discarded the authorizer's answer. As a result, configured access controls were not enforced and unauthorized users could read daemon log content.

FBI Disrupts China-Linked QTFY Infrastructure Used to Steal Data From U.S. Organizations

FBI and Lumen disrupted QTFY's QScan and QTRouter botnet platforms used by Chinese state-sponsored hackers to conceal intrusions into U.S. agencies.

The U.S. DoJ announced court-authorized seizure of domains behind QScan and QTRouter, operated by the Chinese state-sponsored group QTFY and employed by Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company. QTFY has been active since May 2018 and targeted NASA, the Federal Reserve, the Department of Energy, DoJ, HHS, NIH, the U.S. Senate, and academic institutions. QScan exploits vulnerable IoT devices, feeding them into QTRouter, an OpenWrt-based proxy obfuscation network likened to an operational relay box (ORB) that masks attack origins. The group exploited zero-days such as Ivanti CSA flaws CVE-2024-8190, CVE-2024-8963, and CVE-2024-9380, plus numerous N-days, and maintained persistence with RATs, web shells, and legitimate credentials.

EXCODER performs context engineering by integrating static and dynamic program analysis output with LLMs; it was evaluated on a benchmark built from 304 methods across 75 GitHub Java projects. Combined with Qwen 2.5 Coder 32B, EXCODER achieves pass@1, 5, and 10 rates of 85.92%, 86.18%, and 86.51%, roughly 13 percentage points over baseline, and manual inspection reveals remaining limitations.

An Empirical Analysis of CodeQL False Positives and Query Refinements for Java Vulnerabilities

Study of 167 Java CVE instances finds CodeQL false positives follow recurring patterns; query refinements remove 81.8% of reviewed ones.

Researchers ran CodeQL's Java security query suite on 167 CVE instances from 110 projects, manually reviewing 500 sampled false-positive paths and building a five-category taxonomy led by Missed Path Constraint or Sanitization (36.6%), Benign Execution Context (29.4%), and Missing Trust Boundary Modeling (27.6%). Guided by the taxonomy, query-level refinements removed 81.8% of reviewed false positives and 15.8% of reported paths across the selected queries while retaining 7 of 8 true positives. To address generalization, agentic coding tools given the refinement patterns as templates adapted them to new projects successfully in 56% and 62% of tasks, versus 28% without guidance.

The flaws enable arbitrary file read and remote code execution via the exposed mwEmbedLoader.php endpoint. Affected versions include html5lib v2.45, v2.103 and earlier, and other v2.x releases; the currently supported Player V7 is unaffected. No evidence of exploitation was cited.

Remote clients can perform arbitrary JNDI lookups, resolve attacker-supplied class names, and invoke EJB business methods without sufficient authorization enforcement or input restriction. CVE-2026-86462: Apache Airflow FAB provider: FAB Admin password PATCH does not invalidate database-backed sessions

Apache Airflow FAB provider 3.2.0-3.8.x password changes do not invalidate database-backed sessions, letting stolen session cookies survive a password reset.

CVE-2026-86462 affects apache-airflow-providers-fab versions 3.2.0 before 3.9.0. Changing a user's password via the Admin user-edit PATCH endpoint does not invalidate that user's existing database-backed sessions. An attacker who already holds a copy of the victim's session cookie retains full access as that user after the password change. Severity is rated moderate.
