A maximum severity GitLab flaw could turn your CI/CD server into an attacker’s treasure trove

GitLab patched maximum-severity CVE-2026-85706, an unauthenticated path traversal enabling arbitrary file reads; CISA added it to KEV amid observed in-the-wild probes.

CVE-2026-85706 is a CVSS 10.0 path traversal in GitLab's repository commits API caused by improper confinement and missing authentication enforcement, allowing arbitrary file reads in a single unauthenticated HTTP request. It affects GitLab CE and EE versions 18.7 before 19.1.8, 19.2 before 19.2.6, and 19.3 before 19.3.2, and was reported via GitLab's HackerOne bug bounty. CISA added the flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, and watchTowr Intel reports already observing in-the-wild probes; GitLab is used by roughly 50% of the Fortune 100 with over 50 million registered users. Defenders are advised to patch immediately, rotate any exposed secrets, and hunt logs for HTTP POST requests to /api/v4/projects/{id}/repository/commits/ URIs containing file.path parameters.

Acronis backup plugin flaw exploited in targeted attacks (CVE-2026-87886)

Acronis warns CVE-2026-87886, an authenticated Linux privilege escalation flaw in its cPanel, WHM, and Plesk backup plugins, is under limited targeted exploitation; patches released.

Acronis disclosed CVE-2026-87886, a privilege escalation vulnerability caused by insecure file permissions in its backup plugins for cPanel, WHM, and Plesk, platforms popular among hosting providers and MSPs. Exploitation has been detected in the wild in limited, targeted attacks against cPanel & WHM deployments, with no exploitation observed on Plesk so far, and the low-complexity attack requires no user interaction. Fixes shipped last week: backup plugin version 1.9.3 HF3 for cPanel & WHM and extension version 1.8.11 for Plesk.

Attackers Target miniOrange SAML Flaws That Can Grant WordPress Admin Access

Attackers are exploiting two unauthenticated WordPress auth bypasses (CVE-2026-61979, CVE-2026-15981, max CVSS 9.8) in miniOrange SAML SSO to gain admin sessions.

Patchstack disclosed two flaws in the Xecurify miniOrange SAML 2.0 Single Sign On WordPress plugin: CVE-2026-15981 (CVSS 9.8) accepts malformed signatures because mo_saml_validate_signature() loosely checks the tri-state result of openssl_verify(), and CVE-2026-61979 (CVSS 8.1) enables privilege escalation via signature algorithm confusion. Both let unauthenticated attackers sign in as any WordPress user, including administrators; fixes shipped in Standard edition versions 17.0.6 and 17.0.5. DigitalOcean observed an attacker using the bypass to obtain an admin session cookie, opportunistic scanning is underway from six IP addresses, and PoC chaining code is public.
