Decade-old PostgreSQL flaw turns backup account into a backdoor
Cyera disclosed CVE-2026-6471, a decade-old PostgreSQL flaw letting REPLICATION-attribute accounts achieve RCE and superuser compromise, patched August 13.
Cyera Research's 'PostGREShell' flaw exists in PostgreSQL's logical replication output plugin loading, where the replication code path never called the library-path security check, allowing path traversal or UNC paths to load arbitrary code. A low-privilege backup account can achieve code execution on Windows, Linux, and macOS, then escalate to superuser with persistent backdoor access. CVE-2026-6471 affects versions back to PostgreSQL 9.4 (2014) and was patched in releases 18.6, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24 on August 13. CVSS is 7.2, and no exploitation of this specific CVE has been confirmed, though VirusTotal hunting found 114 malicious PostgreSQL plugins.

Critical GitLab flaw allows attackers to modify or delete public projects (CVE-2026-19478)
GitLab patched a critical unauthenticated code injection flaw CVE-2026-19478 (CVSS 9.4) enabling modification or deletion of public projects; upgrades urged.
GitLab released patches for two vulnerabilities affecting Community Edition (CE) and Enterprise Edition (EE) versions 18.2 before 18.11.11, 19.0 before 19.0.8, 19.1 before 19.1.6, and 19.2 before 19.2.4. CVE-2026-19478 (CVSS 9.4) is an unauthenticated code injection via a GraphQL directive, exploitable remotely without user interaction, allowing attackers to modify or delete public projects and user data. CVE-2026-19650 (CVSS 7.1) is a cross-site request forgery issue in the GraphQL multiplex query handler allowing mutations via GET requests with user interaction. Fixes are available in 18.11.11, 19.0.8, 19.1.6, and 19.2.4; both flaws were reported via GitLab's HackerOne bug bounty program.

Adobe Patches Three CVSS 10.0 ColdFusion and Campaign Classic Flaws
Adobe patches seven flaws in ColdFusion, Commerce, and Campaign Classic, including actively exploited CVE-2026-71362 enabling customer account takeover.
Adobe issued Priority 1 updates fixing CVSS 10.0 flaws in ColdFusion (CVE-2026-48362, OS command injection) and Campaign Classic (CVE-2026-71398, CVE-2026-27302, incorrect authorization), plus CVE-2026-71362 (CVSS 9.1) in Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source. Sansec reports threat actors are actively exploiting CVE-2026-71362 to switch customer sessions to other accounts and access private customer data. Adobe-hosted Campaign Classic instances are already remediated, while on-premise deployments are urged to patch within 72 hours. ColdFusion fixes ship in versions 2025.0.12 and 2023.0.23, and Campaign Classic fixes in v7 7.4.4 build 9400.
