Muse can shop, write emails, and negotiate prices for users, all through WhatsApp

Meta launched Muse, a WhatsApp-controlled agent running on an isolated VM with a Sentinel gatekeeper, able to shop, email, book travel, and negotiate.

Meta introduced Muse, an autonomous agent controlled through WhatsApp that runs on its own cloud virtual machine, plans multi-step tasks, browses, fills forms, and negotiates on users' behalf. Payments run through Stripe's Link using one-time cards, which Meta calls the first AI agent covered by Link's purchase protection, with Shop Pay and 1Password integration planned. A second agent, Sentinel, gates all Muse network access and holds credentials, and a Muse Confidential VM with user-held encryption keys is planned later this year. Muse's model reportedly scored 44-48 on Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v4.3, up from 31 for Muse Spark in April, near GPT-5.6 Sol's 47; it launches first in the US on iOS and Android.

UNC6671 Vishing Attacks Target Personal Phones to Steal SaaS Data

Google and Mandiant attribute vishing-based SaaS data extortion attacks to UNC6671, now operating under the Redact, Pink, Helix, and Falcon brands.

Google Threat Intelligence Group and Mandiant track extortion group UNC6671, which uses vishing calls impersonating IT help desks to lure employees to adversary-in-the-middle phishing pages that capture credentials, MFA tokens, and session tokens. The group then registers adversary-controlled MFA devices, pivots through identity providers into Microsoft 365, Okta, and other SaaS applications, and runs automated Python and PowerShell exfiltration scripts. UNC6671 has rotated through extortion brands including BlackFile, Redact, Pink, Helix, and Falcon, and Google tracked over $10.6 million in Bitcoin payments between January 7 and May 12, 2026, with initial demands exceeding $3 million. The actor has hit dozens of organizations in North America, Australia, and the UK, shifting toward high-value financial and legal firms in July 2026.

‘White hat’ hackers take $47 million bounty after $320 million crypto theft

Hackers withdrew $320 million in bitcoin from Liquid Network, negotiated on-chain, returned $266.5 million and kept a $47 million reward.

Purported white-hat hackers withdrew 4,000 BTC (about $320 million) from Liquid Network's own wallet, one of the largest cryptocurrency thefts of 2026. Over roughly 12 hours of public on-chain negotiation with operator Blockstream, the hackers returned $266.5 million in bitcoin and kept 598.5 BTC (about $47 million), claiming it as a reward for uncovering a bug. Blockstream deployed updated software and paused deposits and withdrawals while experts traced the flaw to the Elements sidechain framework. April thefts of $290 million from Kelp and $280 million from Drift, attributed to North Korean hackers, were previously 2026's largest.

GPT-6 Astra pilots a surveillance drone and runs a business on its own

GPT-6 Astra outperforms Claude Fable 5.1 on Vending-Bench and becomes the first model to beat the human-AI baseline on all five Drone-Bench subtasks.

Andon Labs tested OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra on two agent benchmarks: Vending-Bench 2, where Astra averaged $15,515 running a simulated vending-machine business versus Claude Fable 5.1's $5,422, and Drone-Bench, where models write code for a DJI Tello EDU drone to navigate an office and follow a specific person. Astra is the first model whose best submissions beat the human-AI baseline on all five Drone-Bench subtasks, using a COLMAP and DA3 pipeline with depth filtering for 3D reconstruction. Reliability remains limited, as an average Astra run has only a 2.8 percent chance of passing all five drone steps sequentially. In Vending-Bench Arena, Astra refused a price-fixing proposal from GLM-5.3, while Claude Fable 5.1 participated in an arrangement Andon Labs classified as illegal price-fixing.

Harley-Davidson Alleged Breach – CL0P Ransomware Adds Motorcycle Maker to the List

CL0P ransomware group listed Harley-Davidson on its extortion leak site, claiming a compromise; the motorcycle maker has not confirmed any breach.

The CL0P ransomware operation added Harley-Davidson to its public extortion portal, a listing highlighted by the ransomNews monitoring account on September 10, 2026. Harley-Davidson has not confirmed any compromise, and the initial access method, affected business unit, timing, and volume of stolen data remain unknown, with no sample files or technical indicators published. The article stresses that leak-site listings alone do not confirm a breach and can serve as negotiation pressure in double-extortion schemes. If verified, stolen data could fuel downstream phishing, BEC, credential-stuffing, and invoice fraud targeting dealers, suppliers, and customers.

Critical Check Point VPN Vulnerabilities Enable Remote Code Execution Attacks

Check Point patched two critical VPN flaws, CVE-2026-85102 and CVE-2026-85103 (CVSS 9.8), allowing unauthenticated RCE on Security Gateways.

Check Point disclosed and patched two critical VPN vulnerabilities, CVE-2026-85102 (improper certificate trust validation, CWE-295) and CVE-2026-85103 (heap-based buffer overflow in ASN.1 certificate parsing, CWE-122), both rated CVSS 9.8 and exploitable for unauthenticated remote code execution under specific conditions. The flaws affect Security Gateway, Security Management Server, and Spark Firewall deployments on R81.20, R82, and R82.10 branches plus end-of-support versions such as R80.40 and R81, while R82.20 is not affected. Check Point reports no evidence of active exploitation or public PoC; Live Patch rollout began September 9, 2026, and administrators without it must install Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator builds (R82.10 Take 44+, R82 Take 126+, R81.20 Take 166+). For Site-to-Site VPN, restricting UDP ports 500 and 4500 to known peers serves as an interim workaround, but no mitigation exists for Remote Access VPN or Spark Firewalls.

More than 200 victims of Medusa ransomware identified over the last year, CISA says

CISA and FBI update Medusa ransomware advisory, reporting more than 500 total victims and warning the gang operationalizes newly disclosed exploits within 24 hours.

CISA and the FBI updated their March 2025 advisory, stating Medusa actors had hit more than 500 victims as of April 2026, up from 300 in 2025, with a focus on healthcare and critical infrastructure. The agencies say Medusa rapidly adopts newly announced exploits, sometimes using them up to a week before public vulnerability disclosure, but does not develop its own zero-days, preferring access obtained from unknown sources. The gang moved to an affiliate model in 2023, offers up to $1 million for exclusive initial access brokers, and uses credential stealers plus legitimate remote access tools including AnyDesk, Atera, ConnectWise and Splashtop. No new victims have appeared on its leak site since April, after the shutdown of the University of Mississippi Medical Center drew significant law enforcement attention.

AI agents carried out every step of this ransomware attack – then left the victim an 80-page security audit

Unit 42 says a human attacker used AI agents to execute a full ransomware intrusion in under 10 hours, leaving the victim an 80-page security audit.

Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 incident responders report a human ransomware operator used frontier AI models and agentic attack frameworks to breach an enterprise in under 10 hours, work that normally takes human operators around two weeks. AI agents performed reconnaissance, breached a public API endpoint to tunnel into the network, scraped code repositories for hard-coded tokens and service passwords, then used them to steal master administrative credentials from the secret-management system for root access. Specialist pivot agents validated access to cloud, identity, CI/CD, container and SaaS environments, and the attacker hijacked CI/CD workflows to steal cloud keys and turn the victim's cloud AI services into post-compromise infrastructure. The agents left an 80-page audit detailing dozens of exploited findings.

Google attributed the broader campaign against financial sector organizations to BlackFile, a threat group affiliated with The Com that operates extortion brands Redact, Pink, Helix, and Falcon. Apollo, which manages $1.05 trillion in assets, is the first victim to formally confirm sensitive personal data was compromised in this wave, with Blackstone and Bain Capital also reportedly targeted.

Cl0p Targets 40+ Organizations Through PTC Windchill Flaw

Cl0p claims over 40 organizations including Shell and Philips were breached by exploiting critical RCE CVE-2026-12569 in PTC Windchill and FlexPLM.

Cl0p claims more than 40 organizations were victimized via CVE-2026-12569 (CVSS 9.3), a critical deserialization-based remote code execution flaw in PTC Windchill PDMlink and FlexPLM, affecting releases prior to 11.0 M030; CISA added the flaw to its KEV catalog in June. ReliaQuest found the group deployed a custom web shell that maps vault data, decrypts all credentials in the Windchill keystore, and includes a Java class loader enabling arbitrary code execution, lateral movement, persistence, and large-scale data exfiltration without extra tooling. Named victims include Shell, Philips, Fiserv, Zebra Technologies, Ingersoll Rand, Toast, Mindray, and Apple lens supplier Largan Precision, with stolen data ranging from one gigabyte to multiple terabytes per target. The campaign mirrors Cl0p's earlier mass-exploitation extortion operations against MOVEit, Cleo, GoAnywhere, and Oracle E-Business Suite.

Eight years later, federal authorities re-up charges against alleged Iranian hackers at Mabna Institute

US prosecutors unsealed a superseding indictment charging 17 Iranians in the Mabna Institute's state-sponsored theft of 31.5 terabytes from universities and companies.

The superseding indictment unsealed in the Southern District of New York charges 17 people affiliated with Tehran's Mabna Institute, adding eight defendants to the 2018 indictment of nine. US universities spent approximately $3.4 billion procuring the stolen data, and victims also included at least five federal and state agencies, 42 US companies, and 11 foreign companies including HBO. The State Department's Rewards for Justice program is offering up to $10 million for information on four of the defendants.
