Hackers Use Claude AI Agents to Automate Cyberattacks, Develop 0-Days and Evade Detection

Anthropic reports state-sponsored and criminal actors used Claude AI agents to automate attacks, discover zero-days, and rewrite malware to evade detection.

Anthropic Threat Intelligence's report covering December 2025 to August 2026 details AI-automated campaigns by espionage groups, criminals, and hacktivists. GTG-20006, aligned with Russia-linked Midnight Blizzard, targeted Ukrainian and European government and drone supply chains, used Claude to autonomously rebuild malware when detected, hijacked hotel Wi-Fi DNS to serve ClickFix lures, and stole over 300,000 identity records from a North African government. Operators linked to ShinyHunters decompiled roughly 1.8 million Android packages for hardcoded secrets and pivoted from an XSS flaw in a SaaS vendor into 200+ downstream organizations in about 34 hours, harvesting 2,100+ Azure AD token sets across 40 tenants. The Chinese-linked GTG-10007 ran parallel agent swarms that surfaced more than a dozen candidate zero-day vulnerabilities in a single month.

Revolut Data Breach Via Fake Government Requests – What We Know So Far

Revolut confirmed attackers extracted customer KYC records by sending fraudulent data requests from a spoofed or compromised government agency email domain.

Revolut confirmed a data breach in which an unauthorized party obtained sensitive customer records by submitting fraudulent information requests from an email account on a legitimate government agency domain with valid SPF/DKIM/DMARC authentication. Disclosed data could include full names, dates of birth, passport or driving-license copies, onboarding facial images, IBANs, account statements, withdrawal records, and complete transaction histories including Bitcoin activity. Crypto investigator ZachXBT assessed the operation targeted high-net-worth users, while a threat actor using the name 'IAmNotAVillain' claimed Italian law-enforcement departments were compromised over six months with 147 GB of material, claims that remain unverified. Revolut says only a limited number of customers were affected, blocked the email address, and notified regulators and affected customers, stating its systems and funds were not compromised.

Revolut Data Breach Exposes Customers’ Passport Copies and Full Transaction Histories to Hackers

Revolut leaked KYC documents and full transaction histories after a fraudulent, domain-authenticated email request impersonating a government agency.

Revolut disclosed that an attacker using an unauthorized email account on a legitimate government domain, with valid domain-authentication credentials, tricked the fintech into releasing customer data. The exposed data includes passport and driver's license copies, identity-verification selfies, full names, dates of birth, addresses, IBANs, and complete transaction histories including Bitcoin activity. Revolut says core systems, accounts, and funds were not compromised, and it blocked the email source and notified authorities. On-chain investigator ZachXBT and others indicated the operation targeted high-net-worth users facing elevated phishing, SIM-swap, and extortion risk.

Unisoc VoLTE Video Call Exploit Chain Can Give Attackers Full Android Kernel Access

Unisoc modem firmware flaw CWE-1189 allows VoLTE video call RCE chain to gain full Android kernel access on T606/T612/T7250 chipsets; no patch yet.

SSD Secure Disclosure published the second stage of an exploit chain, first disclosed in March 2026, that achieves full Android kernel access on Unisoc modem firmware via a VoLTE video call. The privilege-escalation flaw, classified as CWE-1189 (Improper Isolation of Shared Resources on System-on-a-Chip), exploits shared physical memory between modem and application processor with no hardware boundary, letting modem code map the entire 32-bit address space and modify Android kernel pages via ARM Memory Protection Unit registers. Confirmed affected chipsets include Unisoc T606 (Motorola E13), T612 (Realme C33), and T7250 (Xiaomi Redmi A5), sold across more than 140 countries. No CVE has been assigned, the August 2026 Android Security Bulletin does not address it, and Unisoc has not responded to researchers; exploitation requires an attacker-controlled private 4G network and a victim answering the call.
