CISA Adds One Known Exploited Vulnerability to Catalog

CISA added CVE-2026-85706, an actively exploited GitLab path traversal flaw, to its KEV Catalog, requiring federal agencies to prioritize patching.

CISA added one vulnerability to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog based on evidence of active exploitation: CVE-2026-85706, a path traversal vulnerability in GitLab Community Edition and Enterprise Edition. Under Binding Operational Directive (BOD) 26-04, Federal Civilian Executive Branch agencies must prioritize rapid remediation of KEV-listed vulnerabilities on publicly exposed assets, including checking whether systems were compromised before the patch was applied. While BOD 26-04 binds only FCEB agencies, CISA encourages all organizations to adopt risk-based vulnerability management and prioritize KEV remediations.

The OpenClaw 2.0 release moves your sessions into SQLite

OpenClaw 2.0 migrates AI agent sessions to SQLite, adds guided credential setup, and flags shared-session controls as not a security boundary.

OpenClaw 2.0, described as the largest update in the project's history, migrates sessions and transcripts into SQLite and adds guided setup that detects existing AI credentials from Codex, ChatGPT, Claude CLI sign-ins, API keys, and local Ollama or LM Studio models. The release expands multiplayer sharing while explicitly stating its permission controls are not tenant isolation or a security boundary, and that revoked access can briefly remain usable. Startup JavaScript requests fell from 140 to 45 and startup time from about 1.6 seconds to 575 milliseconds in simulated tests against a mocked Gateway. Automation wrappers must now inspect reported health because requesting --json does not waive risk acknowledgement.

Sam Altman calls GPT-6 Astra rollout ‘messy’ as enterprise users wait for access

OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra launch hit access problems; Sam Altman apologized as availability gradually expanded from Daybreak partners to Pro, Enterprise, and API users.

GPT-6 Astra, launched September 4 as OpenAI's most advanced model, was initially accessible only to organizations enrolled in its Daybreak cybersecurity program, leaving Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and API users waiting. Altman called the rollout 'messy'; by September 5 access had extended to Pro, Enterprise, and Business Premium users in ChatGPT's Work and Codex products plus the API. Analysts from Gartner and Greyhound Research said the staged rollout highlights the gap between announcement and production availability, urging enterprises to verify actual access levels and strengthen governance, security, and cost controls before adopting Astra's autonomous workflows.

The OCUDU dApp Platform: An Open Runtime and E3 Interface for Real-Time AI-RAN

OCUDU open runtime lets third-party signed AI-RAN dApps run inside production 5G distributed units under three timing contracts, released as BSD-3 preview.

The OCUDU dApp platform provides an open runtime and E3 interface for executing signed AI-RAN applications inside a production 3GPP NR distributed unit, where prior dApp frameworks could only observe export streams. Modules run under three typed timing contracts: GPU receive-chain residency (Class A), the scheduler's 100 microsecond deadline (Class B), or non-blocking observer (Class C). On a GB10 gNB, dApps including an out-of-tree neural equalizer ran on a live cell without fallback. Platform, SDK, and a zero-hardware quickstart are public under BSD-3-Clause-Clear as a preview of the OCUDU AI-RAN Working Group 2.

OpenClaw 2.0 pours glitter on slow-burning security dumpster fire

The Register critiques OpenClaw 2.0 for easing installation and revamping the interface while leaving most agent security decisions to users.

The Register reports that OpenClaw 2.0, a popular agent harness, makes installation easier and adds a new interface wrapper. However, the release leaves most security decisions to users, which the outlet argues could worsen the risk posture of a widely deployed tool. The piece frames the update as cosmetic improvement over a slow-burning security problem.

ShieldBreak: New Windows Zero-Day Bypasses Microsoft’s RoguePlanet Patch

Researcher Chaotic Eclipse published a PoC bypassing Microsoft's CVE-2026-50656 Defender patch, enabling SYSTEM-level code execution on fully patched Windows systems.

Security researcher Chaotic Eclipse released a proof-of-concept for ShieldBreak, a Microsoft Defender zero-day that fully bypasses the patch for CVE-2026-50656 (RoguePlanet), a race condition in the Malware Protection Engine (mpengine.dll) allowing SYSTEM-level code execution. The PoC was tested on Windows 11 25H2 and Windows Server 2025 with a 100% success rate, and Windows 10 is also vulnerable though not supported by the PoC; the flaw may also leak 8 bytes of memory. Microsoft's MSRC had criticized the researcher's repeated uncoordinated disclosures, including YellowKey (BitLocker bypass), GreenPlasma, and LegacyHive (User Profile Service LPE).

Memory-safety defects in the upstream (abandoned) AOSP OpenCORE AAC decoder, shipped unpatched by Samsung TizenRT

Abandoned AOSP OpenCORE AAC decoder has out-of-bounds-write and wild-pointer flaws reachable from attacker-controlled frames, unpatched in Samsung TizenRT.

The OpenCORE AAC decoder in AOSP's abandoned external/opencore tree contains memory-safety defects of the out-of-bounds-write and wild-pointer class. The code is still vendored and built by multiple projects, most notably Samsung's widely deployed TizenRT embedded RTOS. The defects are reachable from untrusted media because an AAC frame is attacker-controlled. The researcher is requesting a CVE ID for the issue.

NVIDIA Announces CUDA Rust with cuda-oxide (SIMT) and cutile-rs (Tile) for Compile-Time-Safe GPU Kernels

NVIDIA launches CUDA Rust via open-source cuda-oxide (SIMT) and cutile-rs (Tile), bringing compile-time-safe Rust GPU kernels.

NVIDIA announced CUDA Rust, making Rust a first-class language for GPU kernels through two NVlabs open-source projects: cuda-oxide for the SIMT model and cutile-rs for the Tile model. Both use Rust's ownership and borrow checker to catch buffer aliasing bugs at compile time. cutile-rs is published on crates.io, runs on stable Rust 1.89+ with CUDA 13.3, and is already used in Hugging Face's Grout inference engine and mistral.rs; cuda-oxide is early alpha requiring nightly Rust, CUDA 12.x, and compute capability 8.0+. cuda-oxide compiles Rust MIR through the community Pliron IR framework and LLVM to PTX, while cutile-rs JIT-compiles kernels via CUDA Tile IR.

C2Looper: A New Backdoor Likely Tied To Ransomware With GitHub C2

Zscaler ThreatLabz identified C2Looper, a new Rust-based backdoor likely tied to ransomware actors and delivered via ClickFix chains, using GitHub for C2.

In July 2026, Zscaler ThreatLabz identified C2Looper, a new Rust-based backdoor family. The malware supports arbitrary command execution, reconnaissance, and deployment of second-stage payloads, and uses GitHub as its command-and-control channel. ThreatLabz assesses with low-to-medium confidence that it is delivered through multi-stage ClickFix infection chains and is likely leveraged by a ransomware-related threat actor. The analysis covers multiple C2Looper variants, their network protocols, and capabilities.
