Chaotic Eclipse Released GreenSection, A PoC For NVIDIA Memory Corruption Zero-Day

Researcher Chaotic Eclipse released GreenSection, a PoC exploiting an unpatched out-of-bounds write in NVIDIA Windows user-mode shared memory.

Security researcher Chaotic Eclipse disclosed an out-of-bounds write in NVIDIA's Windows user-mode components, which share a global memory section (\BaseNamedObjects\{52813408-3561-4705-820a-2b3b78be92ba}) with full read/write access to all users. The PoC crashes applications running Vulkan or OpenGL; the researcher says the bug could cross user boundaries or compromise dwm.exe but did not fully assess the impact. No CVE has been assigned and no patch is mentioned. The researcher recently released zero-day PoCs against Kaspersky, Avast, and CrowdStrike Falcon.

CVE-2026-82434: Apache Storm Nimbus, Apache Storm Client: Disclosure of the Topology ZooKeeper Credential to Read-Only Users and to Logs

Apache Storm Nimbus and Client expose ZooKeeper topology credentials to read-only users and logs, fixed in 3.1.0.

CVE-2026-82434 affects Apache Storm Nimbus (storm-server) and Storm Client (storm-client) versions 3.0.0 before 3.1.0. When ZooKeeper authentication is configured, Storm retains storm.zookeeper.topology.auth.payload in the topology configuration because workers need it, but Nimbus serves that configuration verbatim to callers holding only read-only access. The credential also leaks into logs.

Top 10 Best Patch Management Software in 2026

Roundup ranks 2026 patch management software, favoring Automox, Action1's free tier and Tanium, and warns buyers to vet patching platform security.

This buyer's guide ranks ten patch management tools for 2026, placing Automox first for cloud-native patching, Action1 for a genuinely free small-estate tier and Tanium for patching hundreds of thousands of endpoints. It contextualizes the category with the 2021 Kaseya VSA ransomware supply-chain incident and the 2020 SolarWinds Orion compromise, arguing the security of the patching platform itself must be part of evaluation. It also notes Ivanti products have repeatedly appeared in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

The Pelican comparison grid for Astra is pretty interesting

Simon Willison's pelican SVG comparison shows GPT-6 Astra producing markedly better images than GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna across reasoning levels.

Willison generated pelicans-riding-bicycles SVGs with newly accessed GPT-6 Astra at low through max reasoning levels and rendered them in a comparison grid against GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna. Astra's outputs were markedly more coherent, while even the best GPT-5.6-Sol images remained largely abstract shapes. Astra does not support a reasoning=none setting, so all comparisons involved reasoning-enabled runs.

Feyospace-v1: How the Cyber Mercury Seven Trained Frontier Cyber Models

A seven-person independent team trained open-weight agentic cyber models via a data-centric post-training framework, ranking 10th on CyberGym and first at comparable scale.

The paper presents Feyospace-v1, a data-centric post-training framework combining five systems: Choulea (hidden reasoning analysis), SkyReal (teacher-sampling cost reduction), Hongzwang (bypassing teacher API restrictions), PSBreakup (restoring capabilities weakened by model merging), and Kreator (converting expert interventions into trainable reasoning). The data engine builds resettable coding, vulnerability, CTF, kernel-history, full-exploit, firmware, and device-backed environments, retaining only execution-verified and evidence-audited trajectories, yielding 164,269 trajectories for long-context supervised fine-tuning. Three checkpoints improve over their starting models by an average of 23.76% on the full CyberGym suite and 10.49% across pooled CTF suites. As of September 1, 2026, Feyospace-s1 achieves a 63.24% verified success rate, ranks 10th on the official CyberGym leaderboard, and all three checkpoints rank 1st among models at comparable parameter scales.

What’s next for CISA’s CDM program that gives cybersecurity tools to federal agencies

CISA officials outline future plans for the CDM program, emphasizing speed, automation, unified data, and data-driven federal risk management.

Speaking at an Elastic Federal Cyber Defense Breakfast, CISA officials described next steps for the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program that supplies cybersecurity tools to federal agencies. Acting deputy program manager Richard Grabowski named velocity, unification, and data-driven risk management as core goals, including a three-year roadmap to expand SIEM-as-a-Service. Federal CISO Mike Duffy urged aggregating demand across agencies, buying outcomes rather than products, and designing acquisition for continuous improvement. CISA's Matt House tied the program's evolution to post-SolarWinds needs for a government-wide common operating picture.

ShieldBreak: New Windows Zero-Day Bypasses Microsoft’s RoguePlanet Patch

Researcher Chaotic Eclipse published a PoC bypassing Microsoft's CVE-2026-50656 Defender patch, enabling SYSTEM-level code execution on fully patched Windows systems.

Security researcher Chaotic Eclipse released a proof-of-concept for ShieldBreak, a Microsoft Defender zero-day that fully bypasses the patch for CVE-2026-50656 (RoguePlanet), a race condition in the Malware Protection Engine (mpengine.dll) allowing SYSTEM-level code execution. The PoC was tested on Windows 11 25H2 and Windows Server 2025 with a 100% success rate, and Windows 10 is also vulnerable though not supported by the PoC; the flaw may also leak 8 bytes of memory. Microsoft's MSRC had criticized the researcher's repeated uncoordinated disclosures, including YellowKey (BitLocker bypass), GreenPlasma, and LegacyHive (User Profile Service LPE).

CVE-2026-82429: Apache Storm Worker Launcher: Local Privilege Escalation to Root via a Time-of-Check Race in the Worker Launcher

Apache Storm's setuid-root worker-launcher re-resolves paths during recursive chown/chmod, letting local users win a race to escalate to root.

CVE-2026-82429 affects Apache Storm Worker Launcher (org.apache.storm:storm-core) versions 3.0.0 before 3.1.0, rated important. The setuid-root worker-launcher walks worker directories with FTS calling lchown and chmod on full pathnames while running with effective uid 0, and both syscalls re-resolve the path at call time. A local attacker can exploit this time-of-check race by swapping path components to gain root privileges. Fixed in version 3.1.0.
