Pilot Early, Commit Late: A Real-Options Model of Enterprise AI Adoption under Rapid Technological Progress

Real-options model shows firms should pilot AI early and commit late because rapid frontier progress raises experimentation value over irreversible deployment.

The paper builds a two-period decision model where firms choose among immediate AI deployment, a limited pilot, or waiting under frontier uncertainty. It derives five timing results plus a comparative result on where learning occurs, including that frontier uncertainty raises the value of waiting and piloting. Valuable organization-specific learning creates a region where 'pilot early, commit late' is optimal, and a closed-form modularity threshold exists above which immediate deployment dominates. A continuous-time extension recovers the standard result that uncertainty raises adoption thresholds while capability and modularity lower them.

How to Secure Enterprise AI: From Adoption to Incident Readiness

Sygnia-backed guidance urges a lifecycle approach to enterprise AI security, citing survey data that AI adoption is outpacing governance and incident readiness.

The Hacker News published Sygnia-sponsored guidance on securing enterprise AI across its lifecycle, from use-case definition and vendor selection to deployment and incident readiness. It cites Sygnia's 2026 CISO survey of 600 senior leaders: 63% expect AI fully embedded by 2027, 73% say their organization would not be fully ready for a significant cyberattack, and 67% of executives believe unapproved AI tools already caused a breach. The piece highlights shadow AI, ad hoc integrations, and over-permissioned AI agents as key attack surface risks, noting only 38% of organizations report a comprehensive AI policy.

Your employees are already using AI tools you never approved

OneTrust report: 74% of organizations have scaled AI adoption, but only 17% embed governance by design and agent use outpaces oversight.

OneTrust's 2026 AI-Ready Governance Report finds 74% of respondents report departmental or scaled AI adoption, yet only 17% report governance embedded by design and just 5% have coordination and accountability defined across the AI lifecycle. Anthropic's Enterprise Frontier Safeguards lets your Claude logs stay in your cloud

Anthropic launches Enterprise Frontier Safeguards, letting regulated customers keep Claude usage logs in their own cloud storage under their own keys with automated misuse detection.

Anthropic unveiled Enterprise Frontier Safeguards, co-designed with eight members of the Analysis and Resilience Center for Systemic Risk and more than 100 customers including Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, Visa, Mastercard, Comcast, KPMG, and Salesforce. Misuse-detection activity data can live in the customer's Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Google Cloud Storage under customer-managed keys, with fully automated review and no human inspection by Anthropic; automated systems watch for offensive cyber or biological capability development and signs of stolen credentials. The offering replaces the friction around Fable 5's 30-day retention policy, costs nothing extra, spans Claude Enterprise, Claude Platform, Amazon Bedrock, Google's Agent Platform, and Microsoft Foundry, with broad availability targeted for later this fall.

Governing Bring Your Own AI: A Parameterized Maturity Model

Researchers propose a parameterized governance model and maturity ladder for Bring Your Own AI, finding data exposure and compliance dominate BYOAI risks.

The paper studies Bring Your Own AI (BYOAI), where employees use personal generative AI accounts such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude outside enterprise identity and security controls. Drawing on a curated corpus of 30 records (24 studies and 6 framework documents), the authors build a risk taxonomy, a five-level governance maturity ladder, and a parameterized model linking control-layer coverage to residual risk. Findings highlight data exposure and compliance as the most prominent risks, inconsistent framework engagement, and evidence that layered technical controls reduce modeled exfiltration risk more than prohibition-based approaches.

Ping Identity introduces enterprise security for personal AI agents

Ping Identity launched Enterprise Personal Agent Access to discover, authenticate and control personal AI agents like Claude at runtime.

Ping Identity announced Enterprise Personal Agent Access, delivered through PingOne Privilege, to give enterprises visibility and control over personal AI agents such as Claude and Claude Code. The product discovers agents including shadow AI, associates each session with the user and device behind it, and enforces allow, deny, log, human-approval or revocation decisions on agent access at runtime. It enables secretless developer workflows so agents can commit code without long-lived credentials while keeping actions attributable to the agent. Ping cites Gravitee research that 48% of production AI agents run unsecured and says the product is available now and piloting with global enterprises.

From Infostealer Log to Marketplace Listing: A Technical Walkthrough of the Credential Theft Pipeline

Cyble walkthrough maps how infostealer logs move from endpoint infection through aggregation and enrichment to dark web credential marketplace sales.

Cyble breaks the credential theft pipeline into stages: infostealer execution harvesting browser credential stores, cookies, session tokens, crypto wallets, and FTP configurations; aggregation of stealer logs via C2 panels into bundled archives; parsing and enrichment against previously leaked datasets; and final listing on dark web marketplaces. Enrichment adds employer and role context that raises prices and enables credential stuffing across reused passwords. The report advises SOC teams to monitor stealer logs and marketplace chatter early rather than waiting for breach alerts.

Nearly half of enterprises have no one leading PQC migration

Axiad survey finds 46% of enterprises lack a single leader for post-quantum cryptography migration despite most maintaining cryptographic inventories.

Axiad research on post-quantum cryptography (PQC) readiness found 75% of respondents maintain continuously updated inventories of certificates, keys, and algorithms, but 46% have no single person owning the migration. About half have never formally assessed whether public-facing infrastructure supports post-quantum key exchange. 67% said the harvest-now-decrypt-later threat is an active priority, with competing priorities, budget constraints, and lack of regulatory guidance cited as top obstacles; executives were more confident than PKI practitioners.

AI Coding Agents Are Installing Unknown/Untrusted Code on Corporate Networks

Researchers found 120 corporate llms.txt files pointing to unregistered packages, demonstrating AI coding agents install and execute attacker-controlled code on Fortune 500 networks.

Researchers at an Israeli stealth startup scanned 6,214 live domains belonging to defense contractors, Fortune 500 and Big Tech companies, finding 120 llms.txt files that pointed to unregistered code packages or domain names. After registering a handful of the unclaimed names, they received a phone-home beacon within an hour from a Fortune 500 company and dozens more over time. Parent-process chains showed coding agents including Claude, OpenAI's Codex and Nous Research's Hermes executed the installed packages. The researchers warn agents treating vendor docs as ground truth creates a SolarWinds-style supply-chain surface as agent adoption spreads across SaaS, cloud and endpoints.
