WearableQA: A Benchmark for Health Reasoning over Real-World Wearable Data

WearableQA benchmark tests LLM health reasoning over longitudinal wearable data; the best of 14 evaluated LLMs reaches 72.9% accuracy.

WearableQA comprises 4,084 ten-option multiple-choice questions built from wearable time series, blood biomarkers, and demographics of 200 real users with up to 500 days of daily measurements. It defines 16 question types along two axes: data versus health reasoning, and single- versus cross-signal reasoning. Evaluation of 14 proprietary and open-source LLMs shows performance from 19.6% to 72.9% against a 10% chance baseline, with most models below 60%.

Ambient @ EgoProactive 2026 : Proactive Egocentric Assistance with Visually Grounded Supervision

ECCV 2026 challenge winner reformulates egocentric intervention timing as single-token classification, boosting macro-F1 by 0.249 over free-form generation.

The paper describes the winning submission to the EgoProactive track of the ECCV 2026 Wearable AI Challenge, ranking first in the large-model division and second in the <=2B division. The method reformulates intervention timing as single-token yes/no classification, improving macro-F1 by 0.249 and G-mean by 0.30 over free-form generation. Supervision generated by a tool-calling video agent transferred better than a narration-only dataset that was four times larger and ten times cheaper, suggesting visual grounding matters more than annotation volume.

Canadian Start-up smartARM Uses AI to Create Intuitive Bionic Prosthetics

Toronto startup smartARM built a bionic prosthetic arm using Meta's DINOv2 vision model and AI glasses to automatically select grips for objects.

Toronto-based smartARM developed a vision-first bionic arm that uses a palm-embedded camera and Meta's open-source DINOv2 model to recognize objects from a few reference photos and automatically select suitable grips. It integrates Meta AI Glasses and the Meta Wearables Device Access Toolkit for additional egocentric context, letting users add new objects via a phone app. The arm adapts to new objects almost instantly instead of the weeks previously required, and is used by former NFL player Shaquem Griffin.

Researchers Show How Meta's 'Pervert Glasses' Are Used to Harass Women

University of Sydney researchers detail how pickup artists use Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses to covertly film and harass women, then post the videos on Instagram.

Researchers Joanne Gray, Milica Stilinovic, Marcus Carter, and Ben Egliston analyzed 350 Instagram videos posted between September 2023 and March 2026 showing unsolicited approaches to women filmed with smart glasses. They found a clear correlation between covert filming and harassment severity, arguing ambient capture creates 'borderline' harassment that evades platform moderation mechanisms. Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the platform would remove harassing pickup-line content, though similar videos remain widespread a month later. Meta's safeguards, such as the recording light, were previously criticized as insufficient, and users have modded glasses to disable the light.

Apple Watch’s new AI features are normalizing the idea that technology is always listening

TechCrunch argues Apple Watch's Live Rewind and Siri Recap normalize always-listening AI, raising consent and legal questions despite privacy safeguards.

Analysis of Apple's new Apple Watch AI features contends that Live Rewind, which transcribes the previous 15 seconds of audio, and Siri Recap, which generates high-level conversation notes, are pushing consumers toward accepting always-listening technology. The piece acknowledges the accessibility value of on-device Audio Intelligence, which alerts deaf or hard-of-hearing users to sounds like sirens, alarms, doorbells, and crying babies. It also raises concerns about consent, the evidentiary status of text-only transcripts in court, and cultural effects of pervasive capture, noting competitors like Friend, Amazon's Bee, and Plaud in the AI transcription space.

Snap tries to make the case again for its $2,200 smart glasses

Snap unveiled new features for its $2,200 Specs smart glasses, including an anticipatory AI system and enterprise partnerships with Amazon, Salesforce, and Nvidia.

At a Los Angeles event, Snap showcased updates for its Specs smart glasses, which launched earlier in 2026 at $2,200 to a mixed reception. The headline announcement was Specs Intelligence, an "anticipatory AI" system that builds an understanding of user goals and routines and works with iPhones and Macs independently of the glasses. Snap also launched Specs for Enterprise with partnerships including Amazon, Salesforce, and Nvidia, an NBA/WNBA AR training app, and a Verizon cellular connectivity package costing $10/month for Verizon customers and $20/month otherwise. The devices will ship later this fall after an October pop-up in Los Angeles.

Ambient @ EgoLongQA 2026: Distilling Long-Video perception into a Sub-2B Model

Ambient's entry to the EgoLongQA track of the Wearable-AI Challenge at ECCV 2026 placed first in the <=2B parameter division with 0.8279 on the held-out test set. The system distills the junior perception module of a tool-using agentic pipeline into a 2B student, reaching 89% of the pipeline's accuracy with 1.1% of its parameters and lifting a 27.1% base model to 81.4%. Reward AI Releases OM-1: A Robot Policy Trained on Human Demonstrations Only, With No Teleoperation or On-Robot Data

Reward AI released OM-1, a general-purpose manipulation policy trained solely on human demonstrations from a sensorized glove, with no teleoperation or robot data.

Reward AI announced OM-1 (Omnibody Model 1), a general-purpose robot manipulation policy trained only on human demonstrations captured via Omnibody Hand, a 7-DoF wearable glove with tactile, proximity, and in-hand camera sensing. The system uses electromagnetic hand-pose tracking, cutting mean overshoot error to 9.5 mm versus 24.9 mm for visual-inertial at 67 cm/s (a 60% reduction), and reportedly learns brand-new tasks from under 30 minutes of human data. A separate RL-trained control layer runs on its own clock so policy inference latency never stalls motion, and the policy spans industrial arms, legged humanoids, and wheeled mobile manipulators. No weights, code, dataset, API, paper, or benchmark comparisons have been released, so claims are demonstration-backed only.

Why User Studies and Participant Experience Reporting Matter for VR Motion Privacy?

User studies explain VR motion privacy mechanism acceptance far better than physical deviation metrics, a study of three mechanisms finds.

The paper examines how well physical deviation predicts user acceptance of VR motion privacy mechanisms compared to user studies, testing three mechanisms at five deviation levels. User studies explain substantially more variation in mechanism acceptance, though physical deviation remains significant, and prior VR experience affects acceptance. Public VR game leaderboards expose motion recordings from hundreds of thousands of users, creating identification and profiling risks. The authors recommend combining physical deviation metrics with user studies and reporting participants' prior experience.
