IonQ to Buy Zero-Trust Firm Elisity in Stock Deal
IonQ agreed to buy Elisity in stock for up to $1.3 billion, though one outlet reported $1.2 billion.
IonQ signed a definitive agreement to acquire zero-trust software company Elisity in an all-stock deal that SecurityWeek and CyberScoop value at up to $1.3 billion, including up to $150 million contingent on performance. Closing is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026; SecurityWeek says the IonQ share price is collared between $33.07 and $49.61, while CyberScoop says the deal remains subject to regulatory approval. Elisity, founded in 2019, has more than 100 deployments and has raised over $70 million, and CyberScoop reports revenue and customers doubling year over year. Its IdentityGraph enforces least-privilege access for users, devices, workloads, and AI agents, and SecurityWeek says management will remain. The companies plan to combine that access layer with IonQ’s post-quantum cryptography and quantum key distribution, adding cryptographic inventory and risk data so customers can prioritize upgrades, citing machine-speed attacks and harvest-now-decrypt-later risk. CSO Online instead describes a $1.2 billion acquisition and adds analyst skepticism that little of Elisity is quantum-specific, an implied price near $13 million per deployment, a microsegmentation market above $10 billion, and integration risk; only CyberScoop describes a US federal post-quantum migration shift from 2035 toward 2030.
