GBHackers' 2026 guides rank Microsoft Entra ID the top cloud directory and Auth0 the leading authentication-as-a-service platform.

On 6 October 2026, GBHackers published two related but distinct 2026 comparisons of identity products. In a ranking of 11 cloud directory services by lane, protocol coverage, and pricing, Microsoft Entra ID was called best for most organizations because of bundle pricing and a path off hybrid Active Directory. JumpCloud was highlighted for domainless stacks covering directory, device, RADIUS, and LDAP, and Okta Universal Directory was positioned as a neutral hub, with Google Cloud Identity, AWS Directory Service, Ping (including ForgeRock), OneLogin, Foxpass, FreeIPA, WSO2, and Univention Nubus also covered. Zluri was explicitly labeled SaaS management rather than a directory. A second comparison of 12 authentication-as-a-service providers, using published pricing at three monthly-active-user scenarios, named Auth0 (Okta's developer line) best overall for ecosystem and enterprise procurement, while Microsoft Entra External ID, Amazon Cognito, and Firebase Auth were cited for low price floors. Kinde was described as the value insurgent, and Corbado, Stytch, Descope, WorkOS, Frontegg, FusionAuth, and Ping Identity were included for passkeys, fraud signals, B2B suites, and self-hosting. The reports do not contradict each other; they cover different product categories, with Entra and Okta/Ping appearing in both under different product lines.
