Introducing Cloudflare Basin: an open, serverless data platform, now generally available
Cloudflare renamed its data platform Basin and made the Iceberg analytics suite generally available.
Cloudflare made its analytical data platform generally available and renamed it Cloudflare Basin. Basin is a serverless stack on Apache Iceberg and R2: Pipelines ingest and transform events, Catalog manages Iceberg metadata, and Basin SQL queries tables. The names replace Cloudflare Pipelines, R2 Data Catalog, and R2 SQL from the 2025 Data Platform beta. Cloudflare stresses zero egress fees, usage-based pricing, and compatibility with PyIceberg, DuckDB, Snowflake, and Apache Spark.
- Basin Pipelines, Catalog, and SQL are now generally available.
- Data is stored as Apache Iceberg tables on Cloudflare R2.
- Pricing is usage-based, with no egress fees.
- Engines include PyIceberg, DuckDB, Snowflake, and Spark.
