FBI Hackers Say They Won’t Publish Massive Trove of FBI Employee Data

ShinyHunters says it will not publish a multi-terabyte trove of stolen FBI employee and applicant data.

ShinyHunters told 404 Media it never intended to publish personal data stolen from FBIJobs.gov on FBI employees and applicants, including addresses, roles, spouses, and medical records. The group previously provided a verified sample of about 5,000 officials and claimed two to three terabytes were taken, including agents assigned to China and Russia cases and members of the FBI Remote Operations Unit. It said the incident was not extortion or financially motivated. The FBI said it is investigating and has notified potentially affected personnel, while copies of the 5,000-person sample have already circulated.
