AppViewX Adds Shadow AI Controls to Agent Identity Security
AppViewX expanded Agent Identity Security with shadow-AI discovery, an MCP gateway, a runtime kill switch, and quantum-resilient identities.
AppViewX expanded Agent Identity Security on 6 October 2026 to discover sanctioned and shadow AI agents, govern their posture, monitor actions, and issue quantum-resilient or post-quantum identities with audit-ready logs. GBHackers and Cyber Security News add that discovery includes browser-based and short-lived script agents and inventories models, MCP tools, skills, credentials, and identities; only Cyber Security News says the AI Bill of Materials now covers agent skills. Those two reports describe an MCP Gateway with just-in-time access and sensitive-data redaction, including through Microsoft Purview, plus an Agent Kill Switch that can stop agents and sessions automatically, by policy, or on demand, and token-cost controls. They disagree on scope: GBHackers says the gateway discovers shadow MCP servers and the kill switch covers agents that bypass the gateway, while Cyber Security News says the gateway inventories sanctioned and shadow servers and the kill switch includes Shared Signals Framework workflows. Both cite OWASP agent guidance, MITRE ATLAS, GDPR, HIPAA, and the EU AI Act; Cyber Security News also lists ISO 27001/42001, NIST, SOC 2, and SEC cyber disclosure rules, and only a GBHackers bullet mentions NIST. Help Net Security does not describe the gateway, kill switch, or framework mappings.
- On 2026-10-06, AppViewX expanded Agent Identity Security to discover sanctioned and shadow AI agents, govern posture, and retain audit-ready activity logs.
- Help Net Security reports real-time monitoring and control of agent actions and quantum-resilient agent identities.
- GBHackers and Cyber Security News say discovery includes browser-based and short-lived script agents and covers models, MCP tools, skills, credentials, and identities.
- An MCP Gateway applies just-in-time access and can redact sensitive data, including via Microsoft Purview; sources differ on shadow-only versus sanctioned-and-shadow server coverage.
- An Agent Kill Switch can terminate agents and sessions automatically, by policy, or on demand; GBHackers cites agents outside the gateway, while Cyber Security News cites Shared Signals Framework workflows.
- The later reports add token-cost controls and post-quantum or quantum-resilient identities.
- Both later reports map controls to OWASP agent guidance, MITRE ATLAS, GDPR, HIPAA, and the EU AI Act; Cyber Security News also lists ISO 27001/42001, NIST, SOC 2, and SEC cyber disclosure rules.
- Only Cyber Security News says the AI Bill of Materials now extends to agent skills.
