Meta and Microsoft Cut Staff Claude Use for Own Tools
First coverage.
Meta and Microsoft are limiting employees' Claude use in favor of internal coding tools, while customer Claude use through Microsoft still grows.
The Information reported that Meta and Microsoft are cutting employees' use of Anthropic's Claude while pushing internal coding assistants, including Meta's MetaCode and Muse Code. Microsoft's expected internal Anthropic spend, previously put at least at $1 billion a year by one account and above $1 billion by the others, reportedly fell by more than a third after many cloud and AI monthly caps dropped from about $100,000 to about $10,000; one report says that applied per employee in most cases. Meta's Claude Code users reportedly fell from roughly 60,000 to about 30,000 even though Meta spent more than $105 million on Claude Code in a 28-day period. All three reports say customer use or spending on Claude through Microsoft products is not being cut off and continues to grow. Only GBHackers additionally cites patched Claude Code flaws CVE-2025-59536 and CVE-2026-21852 and Microsoft's RoguePilot Codespaces flaw as reasons to govern agent permissions; the other reports do not tie the spending cuts to those issues.
