Researchers Demo Untethered iOS 27.0.1 Jailbreak at Hexacon
Calif researchers showed a reboot-persistent iOS 27.0.1 jailbreak on an iPhone 18 Pro at Hexacon without releasing bugs or a tool.
Researchers from cybersecurity firm Calif demonstrated a working untethered jailbreak for iOS 27.0.1 on an iPhone 18 Pro at Hexacon 2026 in Paris on October 16. The jailbreak returned after a reboot without a computer connection, and SSH on port 2222 yielded a root shell; both reports identified Darwin kernel 27.0.0 and build 24A446, while Cyber Security News also listed model iPhone19,2 and XNU 13432.2.10 and GBHackers identified chip T8160. Calif did not name the bugs, no CVEs are confirmed, and no public tool was released. GBHackers alone said reports described the demo as the first reboot-persistent jailbreak since iOS 9 and characterized near-term risk as limited until details or tooling appear. Cyber Security News reported that Apple’s September 14 iOS 27 release fixed more than 120 vulnerabilities, including 20 kernel issues, and GBHackers advised installing Apple’s next security update promptly.
