EPICS Base 7.0.11 fixes four severe bugs, one rated 9.8
Causal Security’s Cipher agent reported the flaws in under four hours; CISA warns of crashes, memory disclosure or possible code execution.
Out-of-bounds read in EPICS Base 7.0.10 and earlier
EPICS Base 7.0.10 and earlier does not sufficiently check element or length values in a network message, so the application can read past an allocated buffer. A remote attacker can trigger this by sending a crafted message, with no authentication or user interaction required. The read can cause denial of service and may expose adjacent memory. Installations running release 7.0.10 or older are affected; no fixed release is named.

In EPICS Base release 7.0.10 and prior, an insufficient validation of element or length values in a network message can cause the application to read beyond the bounds of an allocated buffer. This may lead to denial of service and could expose adjacent memory contents.
Causal Security’s Cipher agent reported the flaws in under four hours; CISA warns of crashes, memory disclosure or possible code execution.
Base 7.0.10 and earlier is affected; 7.0.11 is the fix, and CISA reports no public exploitation.
Update to EPICS Base 7.0.11; the worst flaw can corrupt memory and may allow remote code execution.
