Everyone's Packing Up
A blog essay says creators are leaving big platforms for smaller, self-hosted sites.
A personal blog essay describes a wave of posts about leaving large platforms, including Reddit, WordPress, Discord, GitHub, Codeberg, and Photoshop. Reasons cited include pricing changes, AI training on user content, new owners, and policy shifts. Rather than moving to another large network, many people are choosing personal sites, self-hosted apps, or smallweb protocols such as Gopher and Gemini. The writer argues major platforms will remain even as early contributors quietly leave.
