Google is testing a limited way for some shoppers in India to buy select Flipkart products—smartphones, electronics, and accessories—through a Buy button in Gemini and AI Mode. Tapping Buy opens a Flipkart-branded checkout without leaving the AI interface, with a broader rollout planned later in October ahead of India's festive shopping season. The flow differs from Google's earlier Universal Commerce Protocol demo of a Google-hosted checkout. Amazon listings shown alongside Flipkart did not offer in-interface purchase; Google invested about $350 million in Flipkart in 2024.
