People really hate AI, so why can’t they get enough?
Surveys show growing public dislike of AI even as ChatGPT and Gemini usage surges.
MIT Technology Review says public dislike of AI is rising even as use surges. Pew finds more US adults expect negative personal and societal effects, and Stanford reports more than half of people worldwide feel nervous about AI products. Gallup found 71% of US adults would oppose a new local AI data center. ChatGPT reached about one billion monthly users in May and Gemini about 950 million in July, while half of US adults now use a chatbot.
