OpenAI’s AI agents need to catch up
Ahead of DevDay, OpenAI is rumored to launch Aeon, a consumer AI agent meant to rival Meta's Muse.
The Verge reports OpenAI may announce Aeon, a continuously running consumer AI agent, at its 2026 DevDay as it trails rivals. Meta's Muse reportedly has 600,000 U.S. daily active users, while OpenClaw, Instinct, and Google's Gemini Spark are also competing. The piece notes agent security problems, including a now-patched account-takeover flaw and hard-to-verify Muse privacy complaints. Little is confirmed about Aeon beyond OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger working at OpenAI, and GPT-6 Astra is expected to underpin it.
