Qualcomm launches two new smartphone chips with emphasis on AI
Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips that run on-device AI, including a 30-billion-parameter MoE model.
Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 at its Snapdragon Summit, focusing on on-device AI. New sensing hubs can run models of up to 200 million parameters for local personalization, speaker differentiation, and a complete voice agent. The Extreme version can run a 30-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model locally, compared with Apple's 20-billion-parameter MoE foundation model. Motorola said its Signature 27 phone will use the Extreme chip, with general availability expected this year.
