Cybersecurity incident at BAE Systems disrupts US bankruptcy court system

A cybersecurity incident at BAE Systems has halted U.S. bankruptcy notices nationwide since October 9.

A cybersecurity incident at BAE Systems halted the Bankruptcy Noticing Center, which produces and delivers notices for every U.S. federal bankruptcy court. Websites including bnc.uscourts.gov and the National Creditor Registration Service went offline, and paper and electronic notices stopped on October 9. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts said BAE is investigating and restoring systems but gave no cause, no confirmation that data was accessed, and no restoration date. Courts continue to accept filings, though some registered creditor addresses may be missing from local records.

Attack on BAE-managed system disrupts US bankruptcy courts

A security incident on BAE-managed systems has halted US bankruptcy court notices nationwide.

The Administrative Office of the US Courts said systems supporting the Bankruptcy Noticing Center were taken offline after a cybersecurity incident. BAE Systems, which runs the BNC for the Federal Judiciary, said the incident is isolated to that system and that restoration work is underway with the courts. Disruptions began around October 9, 2026, stopping electronic and paper bankruptcy notices nationwide, including bnc.uscourts.gov and related sites. Courts still accept filings, but notice service may be delayed, and a Texas court extended certain stay deadlines by 30 days.

BAE Systems Cybersecurity Incident Disrupts Bankruptcy Court Operations Across the U.S.

A cybersecurity incident at BAE Systems has halted U.S. federal bankruptcy notices nationwide, with cause and data impact unconfirmed.

The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts said on October 15, 2026, that a cybersecurity incident at BAE Systems took down systems supporting the Bankruptcy Noticing Center. BAE operates those systems for the Federal Judiciary, and notice production and distribution for every federal bankruptcy court has stopped. Officials have not said whether the event was ransomware, an intrusion, or data theft, and no actor, malware, CVE, or restoration date has been confirmed. Creditors and attorneys are advised to use court dockets directly and treat unsolicited “restored notice” emails as suspicious.

Small AI models let drones autonomously identify and attack battlefield targets

NATO-backed startup Scaleout Systems uses federated learning and small edge AI models to let military drones autonomously identify, prioritize, and attack battlefield targets.

Scaleout Systems, founded in 2018 by Uppsala University researchers, joined NATO's DIANA accelerator in 2025 and works on the Federated Aerial Intelligence for Recon project adapting machine learning for drone and forward-base edge hardware. Under the ALMA project led by BAE Systems Bofors, a demonstration showed a kamikaze drone autonomously detecting, prioritizing, and striking an armored engineering vehicle using onboard AI. Federated learning lets local nodes retrain models from battlefield sensor data and share updates without transmitting raw data; the company also tested this at a Swedish Air Force base in Uppsala.
