AI is changing what Salesforce security needs to govern

WithSecure's Trust Mapping paper proposes a framework for governing trust relationships across Salesforce workflows, AI agents, integrations and connected SaaS systems.

WithSecure's paper 'Navigating Trust in the Modern Salesforce Ecosystem' introduces a Trust Mapping Framework spanning five domains: entities, information, connections, actions and system outcomes. It applies to Salesforce, Agentforce, Headless 360, third-party SaaS and AI-assisted workflows where users, AI agents, APIs and integrations form trust relationships. A Discovery step maps relationships, a Governance step assesses, restricts or retires them, and the paper defines 'trust drift' such as stale credentials, excessive access and unvalidated AI recommendations.

McKesson copes with fallout from data theft extortion attack

McKesson discloses a data theft extortion attack by ShinyHunters affecting oncology and medical-surgical customers, with a reported $55 million demand.

McKesson disclosed that attackers gained access to some of its third-party applications and stole data associated with a subset of customers in its oncology, multispecialty, and medical-surgical business units; the intrusion ran for four days from August 21 and was discovered August 25. ShinyHunters claimed responsibility and listed McKesson on its data-leak site, reportedly demanding more than $55 million with a September 1 deadline. Flashpoint analysts say the group typically uses social engineering and identity weaknesses with valid credentials to access cloud-hosted environments, making the intrusion hard to detect. McKesson, which distributes about one-third of pharmaceuticals used in North America with $403.4 billion in annual revenue, says operations continue and it has reasonable assurance of no ongoing unauthorized activity.

ShinyHunters claims it stole 284 million patient records from McKesson

ShinyHunters claims theft of 284 million patient records from McKesson via vishing, Okta takeover, and Salesforce/Snowflake access, demanding $55,236,150.

McKesson disclosed in an SEC filing a cybersecurity incident detected August 25, 2026, involving unauthorized access to third-party applications and data exfiltration affecting a subset of customers in its Oncology & Multispecialty and Medical-Surgical business units. ShinyHunters told BleepingComputer it entered through vishing calls to employees, used stolen credentials to take over Okta single sign-on accounts, and extracted about a terabyte of data from Salesforce and Snowflake environments over four days. The group claims 284 million database rows including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, Medicaid details, medical record numbers, and medication data, and demanded $55,236,150 with a 72-hour deadline; none of these claims have been independently verified.

Over 8,300 Gitea servers vulnerable to code execution attacks

Over 8,300 internet-facing Gitea servers are exposed to active exploitation of CVE-2026-60004, an authenticated code injection flaw enabling arbitrary code execution.

Attackers are targeting CVE-2026-60004, a code injection vulnerability in Gitea that lets authenticated attackers execute arbitrary code. The flaw was reported by Salesforce security researcher Shai Rod. Roughly 8,300 Gitea instances are estimated vulnerable, so administrators should patch promptly and check for compromise.

One in four MCP servers opens AI agent security to code execution risk

Noma Security whitepaper finds most popular AI Skills and many MCP servers carry high-risk capabilities, with state changes most prevalent.

Noma Security analyzed hundreds of popular MCP servers and Skills across eight risk categories, finding most widely used Skills carry at least one risky characteristic and a typical enterprise runs well over a hundred high-risk agent tools, with arbitrary code execution common across MCP servers. The most prevalent risk is the ability to change state or data, and named toxic combinations include ContextCrush data leakage, ForcedLeak via poisoned Salesforce CRM records, DockerDash supply-chain compromise, the Replit production database deletion, and the hijacked Amazon Q VS Code extension. Building on OWASP LLM06:2025, the paper proposes the No Excessive CAP framework of capabilities, autonomy, and permissions, recommending allowlisting, MCP version pinning, approval gates on irreversible actions, and user-scoped expiring credentials.

AWS limits AI agents’ data access, even when manipulated

AWS detailed propagating user authorization context through Bedrock AgentCore so downstream services enforce access controls even if the agent is manipulated via prompt injection.

AWS described an architecture for Amazon Bedrock AgentCore where user tokens and department claims are validated at runtime and propagated to DynamoDB, Bedrock Knowledge Bases, and Salesforce. Downstream services enforce authorization themselves, so a prompt-injected or buggy agent cannot retrieve data the user is not entitled to see. AWS demonstrated the pattern with a CRM use case separating Sales and Finance access and recommends IAM-backed knowledge bases for stricter isolation.

One Attacker Has Scraped Both Salesforce and ServiceNow Portals Since 2025

Reco tracks the City Forum campaign: one Contabo VPS has scraped Salesforce and ServiceNow guest portals across finance, telecom and public sector since March 2025.

Reco researchers identified infrastructure at 158.220.87.79, a Contabo VPS using Go's default net/http user agent, that has harvested records from Salesforce Experience Cloud and ServiceNow customer portals across telecom, financial services, enterprise software and public sector targets for over a year. The tool abuses over-privileged persistent guest users, enumerating Salesforce Aura sites (560,000+ events at one target), probing Lightning Web Runtime via the UI-API across API versions v56.0-v66.0, and hitting the poorly documented ServiceNow Service Portal search endpoint. No named victims or actor attribution yet, and activity is ongoing with rising volume. Defenders are advised to hunt the Go-http-client user agent and specific IP in Salesforce Event Monitoring logs and syslog_transaction on ServiceNow, then tighten guest sharing rules and Knowledge Base read criteria.

153GB of stolen credentials surface after LiteLLM supply chain attack

153GB archive from the LiteLLM supply chain attack exposes secrets from about 2,500 companies, including AWS, Samsung, Cisco and Salesforce.

Hudson Rock obtained and analyzed a 153GB archive stolen in the LiteLLM supply chain attack, containing 433,909 files with secrets attributed to 2,488 corporate domains, including AWS, Samsung, Cisco, Salesforce, NVIDIA, Microsoft and Siemens. TeamPCP compromised Trivy on March 19, 2026, stole LiteLLM's PyPI publishing tokens through the build pipeline, and published malicious LiteLLM versions 1.82.7 and 1.82.8 on March 24. CloudSEK separately estimated close to 2,500 exposed organizations, and Kevin Beaumont confirmed the data is legitimate. Hudson Rock is running a global ethical disclosure effort and urges organizations to rotate secrets before the trove leaks publicly.

KlueセキュリティインシデントとRecorded Futureへの影響

Recorded Future disclosed a Klue incident that exposed some Salesforce business data, including contacts and emails, via a compromised OAuth token.

Recorded Future disclosed that unauthorized activity in marketing vendor Klue's integration layer, starting June 12, 2026 and contained the same day, affected some of its Salesforce data through a compromised OAuth token in the Salesforce-Klue integration. Impacted fields are limited to business data such as customer contact names, email addresses, and possibly business contract information. No evidence indicates Recorded Future's core platform, Intelligence Graph, internal databases, or customer platform data were accessed. The company revoked all relevant OAuth tokens, coordinated with Salesforce and law enforcement, and began reviewing all third-party Salesforce integrations.

A stranger has been reading Salesforce and ServiceNow portals worldwide for 17 months

Reco tracks City-Forum, an actor abusing Salesforce and ServiceNow guest-user access from one IP for 17 months to enumerate portal data.

Reco's City-Forum investigation found one IP address, tied to a dormant 2002 domain, anonymously enumerating Salesforce Experience Cloud and ServiceNow portals across telecoms, banks, enterprise software vendors, and public sector since at least March 2025. No vulnerability was exploited and no credentials were used; the actor abused over-permissioned guest users, including a previously undocumented ServiceNow portal search endpoint, with the busiest single target logging over 560,000 events. Audit logs show what was requested but not which records or fields were returned, so defenders must replay anonymous requests to assess exposure.

  • Unauthenticated RCE in Gitea via diffpatch API Git Hook Injection
Gitea before 1.27.1 contains a critical code injection flaw (CWE-94) in the diffpatch API that allows remote code execution by causing the installation of a Git hook. An attacker can submit a crafted request through the diffpatch API to plant a Git hook, which then executes arbitrary shell commands on the server when Git operations run; the CVSS vector indicates the attack requires no authentication or user interaction, while public reporting describes attackers with repository write access planting hooks to run shell commands. Successful exploitation yields full server compromise (confidentiality, integrity, and availability all rated high), and observed attacks have reportedly dropped a cryptocurrency miner. All Gitea deployments running versions prior to 1.27.1 are affected, with internet-facing instances at greatest risk; public scans identified over 8,300 vulnerable Gitea servers. The flaw is actively exploited in the wild: CISA added it to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2026-08-25, and EPSS estimates an 86.8% probability of exploitation within 30 days.
