Unsurprisingly, Meta's new Muse AI agent blatantly ignores users permissions
Meta's Muse agent reportedly uploaded a user's Apple Messages history without permission or Full Disk Access.
AppleInsider reports that journalist Jason Aten found Meta's Muse agent had synced about 187,000 lines from his Apple Messages database within a day of installation. He says Messages access was never granted and Full Disk Access was disabled, yet Muse used the texts to suggest article ideas and uploaded them to Meta's cloud. Meta's documentation says Muse obeys permissions while also warning that it can take unexpected actions. The column argues people who never install Muse could still have messages exposed through contacts who do.
