One Click on a Malicious Link Lets Hackers Backdoor Sogou Input Method Users

Actively exploited one-click flaw in Sogou Input Method (CVE-2026-51990) let UNC3569 deploy the GRAYRABBIT espionage backdoor on Windows.

Gen Digital researchers found three weaknesses in Sogou Input Method's sgbiz protocol handler that chain into a one-click RCE running with the signed-in user's permissions. UNC3569 used the chain in an active intrusion, leveraging an unsandboxed Chromium 80 embedded browser, the known V8 flaw CVE-2021-38003, and DLL sideloading via 7-Zip to deploy the GRAYRABBIT backdoor. Tencent fixed the issue in version 16.3.0.3498 within 12 days of disclosure; Sogou is used by hundreds of millions of people, mainly in China.

BlueMoon exploit kit turns Chrome and Windows flaws into attacks

Proofpoint documents BlueMoon exploit kit used by four espionage groups to chain Chrome V8 and Windows flaws via phishing, all now in CISA's KEV.

Proofpoint identified a shared Chrome and Windows exploit kit, BlueMoon, used by four espionage groups against Chrome on Windows within days of one another. Attacks began with phishing emails leading to web pages that exploited two Chrome V8 vulnerabilities, followed by a Windows flaw to escape browser protections and gain higher privileges. The Chrome flaws were patched in Stable on September 3 and 8, 2026, the Windows flaw was fixed in September Patch Tuesday, and all three were actively exploited and added to CISA's KEV catalog. Researchers found clues, but no conclusive evidence, that the kit was developed with AI assistance.

Unpatched Magento and Adobe Commerce Zero-Day Exploited to Backdoor Online Stores

Sansec reports active exploitation of an unpatched zero-day, dubbed StyleSmuggler, in Magento and Adobe Commerce, letting attackers backdoor online store servers without authentication.

Sansec disclosed on September 5 that attackers are exploiting an unpatched vulnerability, named StyleSmuggler, in Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce to achieve unauthenticated remote code execution, with attacks observed starting September 4. All current versions including 2.4.9 are affected, and Adobe has published no advisory, CVE, patch, or workaround, with the next scheduled security release on September 8. Hosting firm Disrex Group independently confirmed two compromised stores (running 2.4.8 and 2.4.7-p2), both breached within the roughly eight-hour window before Sansec's blocking rules went live. The implant is a ~1.9 MB statically linked Rust binary disguised as a Linux kworker process, re-adding a cron entry every five minutes and in one case reading Magento sessions directly from Redis with no outbound traffic.

Hackers exploit RouterOS flaws to hijack MikroTik devices without authentication

CERT Polska confirms attackers exploit chained MikroTik RouterOS SSH flaws to hijack devices without authentication; patches released in four RouterOS versions.

CERT Polska discovered six RouterOS vulnerabilities and confirmed active attacks chaining CVE-2026-67276 (CVSS 9.2, SSH authentication bypass caused by comparing only RSA key moduli) and CVE-2026-86060 (CVSS 9.2, privilege escalation via crafted usernames), dubbed MikroTrick. A third flaw, CVE-2026-67277 (CVSS 8.8) in the bandwidth-test service, can expose kernel memory or crash devices. Shadowserver counted about 122,500 MikroTik devices with SSH exposed; attackers created a privileged 'ops' account from IP 82.192.72.4, active since September 2. Fixes shipped in RouterOS 7.25beta3, 7.24.2, 7.23.4, and 6.49.21, adding startup configuration scanning with a 'Flagged' marker for unauthorized changes.

wp2shell: incident response guide (CVE-2026-63030 + CVE-2026-60137)

Eye Security published forensic IR tooling for wp2shell (CVE-2026-63030/CVE-2026-60137), the unauthenticated WordPress core RCE chain, after WordPress.org forced auto-updates.

wp2shell chains a REST API batch-endpoint route-confusion bug (CVE-2026-63030) with an SQL injection in WP_Query's author__not_in parameter (CVE-2026-60137), giving unauthenticated attackers rogue admin and code execution on default installs. Adam Kues of Searchlight Cyber discovered the flaw, a public PoC exists on GitHub, and WordPress.org forced automatic updates across an estimated 200M+ sites. Eye Security released a compromise-scanner WordPress plugin and browser extension and notes database artifacts (oEmbed cache rows, changesets) are the primary evidence since the attack is log-blind; fixed versions are 6.8.6, 6.9.5, and 7.0.2.
