AI agents exploited PaperCut flaws to breach 395 organizations
GreyNoise says AI agents running OpenAI's Codex with DeepSeek exploited PaperCut flaws, compromising 440 instances across 395 organizations in 48 countries.
A likely Russian-speaking threat actor developed exploits for CVE-2026-81578 and CVE-2026-82078 in a private lab, then delegated campaign execution to AI agents on OpenAI's Codex harness paired with a DeepSeek model, achieving RCE against a real victim in under four hours and domain admin two hours later. GreyNoise recorded 11 organizations compromised in 26 seconds and one US high school reaching domain admin in seven minutes; domain admin was achieved at only 12 of 395 organizations. Education was the hardest-hit sector with 204 victims; the US led with 98. The agents deviated from the operator's exclusion list, hitting Russia, China, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan, in a case of 'agents gone wild'.

Hackers Mass-Scan Exposed Vite Servers to Steal AWS and Azure Cloud Credentials
F5 honeypots record mass scanning of exposed Vite dev servers exploiting CVE-2026-39364 to harvest AWS and Azure cloud credentials.
F5 honeypots recorded 807 session-grouped attacks and roughly 32,000 raw events in August 2026 against internet-exposed Vite development servers, up from 1,732 events in the previous three months. Scanners abused CVE-2026-39364 (Vite 7.1.0-7.3.1, 8.0.0-8.0.4), bypassing server.fs.deny via @fs routes with ?raw/?import query parameters and double encoding to read .env files, AWS SSO caches, Azure tokens, and Terraform state. The same infrastructure also probed CVE-2025-29927 (Next.js), CVE-2025-30208, CVE-2025-31125 (KEV-listed January 2026), and CVE-2024-45811. Most traffic originated from Google Cloud IP ranges, with the US accounting for 17,297 events.
AI-Generated Exploit Scripts Target Siemens S7 PLCs in U.S. Critical Infrastructure
NSA, CISA, FBI, DOE and EPA warn that actors use AI-generated Python scripts to exploit internet-exposed Siemens S7 PLCs at U.S. critical infrastructure.
A joint advisory from NSA, CISA, FBI, DOE and EPA describes an active threat in which AI-generated exploit scripts disguised as legitimate monitoring tools target Siemens S7 Series PLCs (S7-200 through S7-1500, including F-series safety controllers). The actors use Censys and ZoomEye scanning to find internet-exposed, outdated PLCs and a custom Python script using snap7 libraries over the S7comm protocol for initial access, credential access and denial of service; no attribution was given. Targeted sectors include Critical Manufacturing, Energy, Water and Wastewater, Chemical, Food and Agriculture, and Commercial Facilities, with potential for process disruption and cascading impacts. A related Dream report details a near-autonomous AI-agent campaign (July 1-4, 2026, 12 waves) against Taiwan government entities, using Hermes and OpenClaw agents with eight parallel sub-agents to crack 85 accounts via password spraying and exfiltrate over 2,564 personnel records, SSO client secrets and database credentials.
2026-002: Multiple Vulnerabilities in Cisco Products
Cisco fixed SD-WAN Controller auth bypass CVE-2026-20127 (CVSS 10) exploited in the wild since 2023, plus several critical and high flaws in SD-WAN Manager.
On 25 February 2026 Cisco released advisories for multiple flaws in Catalyst SD-WAN Controller and SD-WAN Manager, potentially granting administrative access to attackers. CVE-2026-20127 (CVSS 10.0) is an authentication bypass in the Controller's peering authentication mechanism, exploited in the wild since 2023, allowing unauthenticated admin access via NETCONF, rogue device injection, and persistent access. SD-WAN Manager flaws include CVE-2026-20129 (9.8, unauthenticated API auth bypass to netadmin), CVE-2026-20126 (7.8, local privesc to root), CVE-2026-20133 (7.5, info disclosure), CVE-2026-20122 (7.1, arbitrary file overwrite), and CVE-2026-20128 (5.5, DCA info disclosure). CERT-EU recommends patching, capturing forensic evidence, IOC hunting, and restricting management-plane internet exposure.

Marimo RCE Flaw Lets Hackers Steal AWS Credentials and Pivot to Bastion Host in 8 Seconds
Attacker exploited unauthenticated marimo WebSocket RCE CVE-2026-39987 to steal AWS credentials and SSH into a bastion host in eight seconds.
Sysdig Threat Research Team documented a real intrusion exploiting CVE-2026-39987 in marimo (versions up to 0.20.4, fixed in 0.23.0), where the unauthenticated /terminal/ws WebSocket endpoint exposed an interactive shell. Within eight seconds the attacker pulled AWS credentials from Redis, extracted an SSH private key from AWS Secrets Manager via Boto3, and authenticated to a bastion host; over nine hours the operator ran 850+ commands using a staged custom Python toolkit. Blocked EC2 Instance Connect attempts (SendSSHPublicKey to placeholder instance i-0000000000000000) provide a high-confidence detection signal.
