SilkParasite-Linked Malware Infrastructure Traced Back Four Years Across Central Asianew

Hunt.io links SpiceRAT C2 servers to China-nexus SilkParasite espionage targeting Central Asian governments, with related infrastructure active since 2022.

Hunt.io and researcher Guy Yasur traced a cluster of SpiceRAT command-and-control servers active from late 2025 to August 2026 to infrastructure linked to the China-nexus SilkParasite espionage operation. Shared parent domains, a certificate resembling an Uzbek railway entity, and a cloned RTX Corporation homepage appearing on 13 servers connect SpiceRAT systems to NodeEdgeRAT and NomadRAT infrastructure. Passive DNS records show related subdomains as early as mid-2022, suggesting the infrastructure has existed for at least four years. Hostnames impersonate government, energy and telecom targets across Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

FamousSparrow Exploits Public-Facing Exchange Servers to Deploy SparroWocky Backdoor

ESET attributes a new SparroWocky backdoor to espionage group FamousSparrow, deployed via exploited internet-facing Exchange servers across Latin American governments.

ESET's Welivesecurity team reports FamousSparrow gained initial access by exploiting publicly reachable Microsoft Exchange servers, with roughly 90 percent of targets since mid-2025 in Latin America, including governments in Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. The group's new modular C-language backdoor SparroWocky replaces SparrowDoor and uses a three-part loader: a legitimate executable, a malicious DLL side-loaded in memory, and an encrypted payload. It persists via Windows services or Registry Run keys, supports screenshots, file operations, TCP proxying, Beacon Object Files, TLS/RC4-encrypted C2, and anti-forensics such as call-stack spoofing. IOCs including loader SHA-1 hashes and C2 IP addresses were published.

Researchers identified more than 1,000 semantically similar message templates (199 scoring at least 0.95 similarity) that vary only in salutation, headline, expiry date, and point balance. The links resolve to rotating domains such as t-mobile.biktpw[.]top, with at least 81 short-lived domains observed over four months, pushing victims to fake redemption pages where they may enter credentials or payment details. Activity peaked in two large spikes and has since declined, though messages are still circulating.

SOCRadar researchers found an exposed operation server with 4.9 GB across 9,299 files, including the DXSCAN scanning platform, phishing tools, extortion material and a vault holding 16,834 credentials such as AWS keys, GitHub tokens and Stripe keys. The French-speaking crew ran a Nous Research Hermes agent against a DeepSeek model with safety features removed, queuing 2,759,860 domains and reaching 726,989 hosts. Access came from misconfigurations like public cloud buckets and exposed .env files, not new vulnerabilities.

Hackers reveal how Flock cameras really track cars and people

Hackers tore down a Flock Safety camera, dumped its storage, recovered an encryption key, and revealed its software detects people as well as vehicles.

Hackers from a collective calling itself stegan0gram removed a Flock Safety camera from service, made a near-complete copy of its storage, and recovered an encryption key stored on the device that unlocked thousands of vehicle-detection videos, sharing the files with 404 Media, WIRED, and Distributed Denial of Secrets. Analysis of about 21 days of logs shows more than a million images, roughly 28 photos per passing vehicle, and Flock-built apps that detect people, bicycles, and even bumper stickers, while plate inference happens on Flock's servers. Flock had previously downplayed early-2025 root-access research by Jon Gaines, and records from Alpharetta, Georgia were searchable by over 2,000 agencies via Flock's national network.

The listing coincides with confirmed in-the-wild exploitation of CVE-2025-25249, an unauthenticated heap-based buffer overflow patched in January 2026 but exploited since July 2026, and CVE-2024-21762, a critical out-of-bounds write in the FortiOS and FortiProxy SSL VPN component. Fortinet has advised disabling SSL VPN where immediate upgrades are not possible.

AEPD said the agent was used as an instrument to chain attack phases, implying deliberate use by a threat actor rather than a rogue model. CybaVerse CTO Simon Phillips suggested the actor likely jailbreaked or bypassed the model's guardrails.

Related campaigns used QR-code invoice phishing leading to fake OneDrive pages, Phantom Stealer sold as a penetration testing tool with VBScript-to-PowerShell steganographic loaders, and image-hidden payloads delivering XWorm, PureLogs Stealer, and Formbook; a perceptual-hash VirusTotal search found about 400 distinct rigged images.

Attacks begin with messages on WhatsApp or Telegram impersonating trusted contacts or technical support, tricking victims into running malicious files disguised as apps such as Pictory, RunwayML, Norton Antivirus, Telegram, and KeePass. BambooToken: The Malware That Speaks MQTT to Stay Under the Radar

Lumen's Black Lotus Labs uncovered BambooToken, a Windows and Linux malware family using MQTT broker-based C2 and DLL sideloading across Asia since February 2023.

Malware bypasses browser checks to force install Chrome, Edge extensions

After anti-sandbox checks, it downloads Node.js, persists via a scheduled task, and fetches payload locations from an Ethereum smart contract, hiding payloads in JPEG images on Internet Archive. The toolkit bypasses Chromium integrity mechanisms to install unapproved Chrome/Edge extensions masquerading as AVSync that steal cookies, keylog form input, capture screenshots, and intercept HTTP traffic, while recent campaigns deployed the REMCOS RAT and earlier ones Pulsar RAT. Elastic confirmed 1,515 infected systems, almost all in Brazil, and disrupted the campaign by registering an anti-sandbox canary domain; the linked wallet handled roughly 20,800 USDT incoming and 19,000 USDT outgoing.

Unauthenticated attackers exploit CVE-2026-89026 in Issabel PBX via forged JWT tokens to run OS commands; exploitation observed since September 9.

CVE-2026-89026 (CVSS v4 9.3) stems from a hard-coded HS256 JWT signing key in Issabel Framework's pbxapi/index.php, letting unauthenticated attackers forge bearer tokens and execute OS commands through the Asterisk Manager Interface originate endpoint. Issabel Framework versions before commit b97dbaf0b71c1c36f841e672b664afbeb02773bd are affected. Shadowserver Foundation first observed exploitation on September 9, 2026, and VulnCheck added the flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities database.

A threat actor using the alias '4d722e4d656f77' claimed on a cybercrime forum to have extracted over 7.49 million records, including names, addresses, account numbers, billing data, and partial Social Security numbers, via an API lacking authentication, rate limiting, and WAF protection. The company confirmed the breach but not the record count; energy services were unaffected and the investigation is ongoing.

Enterprises Warned of Attacks Exploiting WSO2 Vulnerability

Attackers are actively exploiting CVE-2026-5430 (CVSS 10), a WSO2 JWT authentication bypass, to access enterprise API credentials and sensitive data.

WatchTowr's honeypot network recorded the first exploitation attempt of CVE-2026-5430 on September 13, roughly two months after the CVE record was published in early August. The flaw, patched by WSO2 in April with an advisory in May, carries a maximum CVSS score of 10 and allows JWT authentication bypass via tokens signed with unsupported algorithms, enabling unauthorized access and full account takeover. A forged JWT observed in the wild granted access to API backend endpoints, credentials, and consumer keys and secrets for every registered application. WSO2's API Manager, API Control Plane, Traffic Manager, and Universal Gateway are affected, and the platform serves nearly 1,000 enterprise customers in banking, government, telecom, and logistics.

eSentire analysts identified GhostCode in late August, a phishing kit that uses business contact-form messages and an NDA pretext to deliver a password-protected HTML attachment leading victims to a Microsoft device-code sign-in. Victims authenticate on legitimate Microsoft pages, letting the kit obtain a Primary Refresh Token in 32 seconds and register three devices in 78 seconds, with residential proxies matching the victim's location. The kit hides its redirect with encrypted addresses, junk data, and scanner-filtering challenges, and uses GHOSTnet-linked infrastructure during device enrolment. eSentire recommends blocking device-code authentication via Conditional Access, invalidating tokens, and reviewing newly enrolled devices.

Anthropic threat intelligence uncovered a fraud network of around 28 dating apps after a prepaid account sent over 100,000 Claude API requests daily, with most chats run by autonomous AI personas and no human agent. Researchers Matthew Gore-Kormanik and Anthropic's Chris Cronbaugh documented apps including Dora, Romi, and Doni, which monetize conversations via coins; gig workers were hired only to pass liveness checks and select pregenerated replies. An operations manual written in Chinese was found inside the Doni app, and Anthropic published findings in its September 2026 AI misuse report.

Hackers Can Rent VectraRAT for $250 a Month to Take Control of Windows PCs

SOCRadar uncovered VectraRAT, a previously undocumented $250-per-month Windows RAT rental service delivered via Amadey and ClickFix lures.

SOCRadar's Threat Research Unit identified VectraRAT, a rental-only remote access trojan sold by a developer known as Vectra (formerly Nyxel), after an exposed online directory revealed samples, licenses, and operator logs across ten-plus servers. The toolkit includes a Linux control server, Windows implant, payload builder, and VectraHub panel, enabling hidden desktop access, keylogging, command execution, credential theft, file transfer, proxying, and silent privilege escalation. Of victims with OS data, 48 percent ran corporate Windows editions, and researchers recorded 38 genuine victim sessions in under a week, including file theft from business systems. Distribution occurs through the Amadey loader and ClickFix pages impersonating TurboTax, with custom TCP-based C2 over non-standard ports.

Three Ukrainians to face charges for alleged hack of 610,000 Roblox accounts

Ukrainian prosecutors charged three men for stealing session tokens from over 610,000 Roblox accounts and selling them for an estimated $480,000.

Prosecutors in Ukraine's Lviv region said a 19-year-old organizer from Drohobych and two 22-year-old associates operated from May 2025 to April 2026, harvesting Roblox session tokens via infostealer malware disguised as game cheats and bonus software. They used software to validate stolen cookies and inventory virtual currency and rare items, then sold accounts via Russian platforms for as little as $0.80 each, advertising through Telegram channels and receiving crypto payments. All three are in custody facing charges of theft, money laundering, unauthorized computer interference, and illegal sale of restricted information, carrying up to 12 years in prison.

Chinese-Speaking Hackers Use Noodle RAT Backdoor to Spy on Windows and Linux Systems

Chinese-speaking actors use cross-platform Noodle RAT backdoor to maintain covert access to Windows and Linux systems across Asia-Pacific.

Noodle RAT (also ANGYREBEL/Nood RAT) has been active since at least mid-2016 and was long misidentified as Gh0st RAT or Rekoobe variants until Trend Micro and Cyberint classified it as a distinct multi-platform family. The Windows build (Win.NOODLERAT) is an in-memory modular shellcode backdoor delivered via MULTIDROP and MICROLOAD loaders, while the Linux build supports reverse shells, SOCKS tunneling, and cron persistence after web shell or public-facing service exploitation. It has appeared in intrusions in Thailand, India, Japan, Malaysia, and Taiwan and is linked to Iron Tiger, Calypso APT, Rocke, and Cloud Snooper campaigns spanning espionage and cybercrime. Recently discovered Linux builders 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 indicate the toolkit remains actively maintained.
