Check Point Discloses Two 9.8-Rated VPN Certificate Flaws Enabling Unauthenticated RCE

Check Point patched two 9.8-rated VPN certificate flaws, CVE-2026-85102 and CVE-2026-85103, enabling unauthenticated remote code execution; no exploitation observed yet.

Check Point disclosed and began patching two critical (CVSS 9.8) vulnerabilities in VPN certificate handling on September 9: CVE-2026-85102, a certificate trust validation failure in VPN negotiation on Security Gateways, and CVE-2026-85103, a heap-based buffer overflow in ASN.1 decoding affecting Quantum Security Gateways and Security Management Server. Affected branches include R81.20, R82, and R82.10 Jumbo Hotfix levels; fixes ship via Live Patch or the latest Jumbo Hotfix. The company found both internally and reports no evidence of exploitation; the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security also published an advisory listing Spark firewalls.

Alleged TeamPCP Hackers Charged in Australia Over Major Supply Chain Attacks

Australian Federal Police charges two men with 14 offences over TeamPCP supply chain backdoors in Trivy, Checkmarx KICS, and LiteLLM affecting 1,000+ organizations.

The Australian Federal Police charged two Western Australian men, aged 21 and 23, with 14 offences for their alleged principal roles in TeamPCP's March 2026 supply chain attacks; they appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on August 27, 2026. The group stole publishing credentials from trusted open-source projects and pushed poisoned releases across five ecosystems - GitHub Actions, Docker Hub, npm, PyPI, and OpenVSX - with LiteLLM's unpinned Trivy install enabling token theft and backdoored LiteLLM releases. The FBI said the malicious code potentially compromised more than 1,000 organizations, enabled theft of over 500,000 credentials, and exfiltrated at least 300 GB of data. Oligo Security linked the group's infrastructure to activity back to 2020, previously tracked as TA-NATALSTATUS and IronErn.

JustFit: 200K-Token LLM Serving on a 24 GiB Laptop with Just-in-Time State Management

JustFit MLX runtime serves 200K-token contexts for Qwen3.8-27B on a 24 GiB MacBook via just-in-time state management.

JustFit is an MLX-based inference runtime combining KVExec for compressed KV execution, PhaseSwap for component residency, and StateTrans for state-preserving serving transitions, independent of weight quantization. On a 24 GiB M4 Pro MacBook running Qwen3.8-27B MXFP4, it completed 196,608 input and 16,384 output tokens, raising single-request context from the mlx-vlm baseline's 30,720 positions to 212,992 (6.93x). Performance tests show 19.11 tokens/s on a 32K-input probe with a 16,374 MiB median peak footprint, and the runtime answered 29 of 30 AIME 2026 problems correctly.

Testing race conditions with memory access tracing and stack-based delay injection

Google Project Zero released MAccConc, Linux kernel tooling that traces memory accesses to explore and test race condition interleavings.

A Google Project Zero researcher published MAccConc (Memory Access Concurrency), tooling for exploring possible interleavings of multithreaded test cases in the Linux kernel, available on GitHub. The tools use KCOV with ASAN outline-mode instrumentation to record per-access memory traces, enabling automatic testing of all A-B-A interleavings plus terminal and GUI explorers for manual analysis. The work targets confirming race condition candidates, building reliable regression tests, and enabling concurrency fuzzing, drawing on ideas from SKI and Ned Williamson's sockfuzzer.

Two alleged TeamPCP hackers arrested over global supply chain attacks

AFP and FBI arrested two alleged TeamPCP hackers behind open-source supply chain attacks that stole 500,000+ credentials from 1,000+ organizations.

Australian Federal Police, working with the FBI and Western Australia Police, arrested a 21-year-old from Cottesloe and a 23-year-old from Mandurah on August 26, 2026, over alleged membership in the TeamPCP cybercrime group. The group allegedly planted malicious code in open-source packages, harvesting credentials, authentication tokens and at least 300 GB of data from over 1,000 organizations, with remediation costs estimated in the hundreds of millions of dollars. TeamPCP has been linked to supply chain attacks on GitHub, Telnyx, LiteLLM, Aqua Trivy, Checkmarx KICS, TanStack, MistralAI and Red Hat using a cloned self-replicating worm dubbed Shai-Hulud. Researchers note TeamPCP cloned the Shai-Hulud worm but was not behind the original 2025 attacks.

Sound Debloating of Redundant Checks in Zero-Knowledge Machine-Learning Circuits

Automated framework soundly removes up to 48.7% of redundant constraints in ezkl and zkml ZK-ML circuits, cutting prover time by up to 72.8%.

The framework uses whole-circuit abstract interpretation and a provenance graph to verify that each removed redundant check (range proofs, sign lookups, bit decompositions) remains entailed by the rest of the circuit, provably preserving soundness. It was evaluated on MLP, CNN, RNN, and transformer circuits generated by ezkl and zkml, with up to 25.3 million constraints. It removes up to 48.7% of constraints and reduces prover time by up to 72.8% without weakening security. Under-constrained circuits in deployed ZK systems have previously enabled attackers to forge transactions and bypass verification.

From 88 lines to 1: Detecting DLL hijacking with Elastic Defend

Elastic condenses 88 lines of detection logic into one Elastic Defend 9.5.0 rule catching the DLL hijacking used by a ClickFix campaign.

The ClickFix campaign side-loads a malicious mscoree.dll next to a signed Microsoft binary and also ships a driver to kill Elastic Endpoint. Elastic rebuilt the DLL as a NativeAOT library, dropped it beside the signed binary, and confirmed that Elastic Defend 9.5.0 flags the load. The post replaces 88 lines of detection logic with a single rule for DLL search-order hijacking.
