Injected and Leaked: Actively Inducing Side-Channel Leakage Using Electromagnetic Injection and Hardware Nonlinearity

Researchers introduce InjectEave, using electromagnetic injection and hardware nonlinearity to induce side-channel leakage and eavesdrop on headphone audio from 30 meters.

An arXiv paper shows electromagnetic injection can actively amplify side-channel leakage: nonlinear hardware such as amplifiers, ADCs, and power converters modulates secret electrical signals onto an injected EM carrier, upconverting low-frequency secrets into measurable EM emissions. By tuning injection frequency and amplitude, an adversary can shape the effective spectrum and entropy of the resulting leakage. The InjectEave attack demonstrated eavesdropping on wired and wireless headphone audio from up to 30 meters and in through-wall scenarios using accessible RF equipment, plus leakage of smart home device power consumption and analog sensor inputs. Case studies show closed-loop eavesdropping and manipulation of landline phone conversations, and the paper discusses mitigations.

Signing the Transaction but Not the Decision: Whisper Attacks and a Binding Defense for AP2

Research shows AP2 agent-payment signatures can be manipulated into valid but wrong carts; proposed A-VIP defense binds signed intent to purchases.

A study demonstrates Whisper attacks on the AP2 agent payment protocol, where ordinary product-description text steers shopping agents into carts that pass every cryptographic check but no longer match user intent. Using Gemini Flash-Lite models specified by AP2's default sample agents, three attacks succeeded at 90%, 56%, and 73.3%, with the vulnerability spanning seventeen Google models, three agent frameworks, cross-vendor anchors, and Google's consumer assistant. The proposed A-VIP defense treats signed intent as a capability grant, binding credential lookups to sessions and cart lines to seen listings, blocking the first two attacks with zero false positives while surfacing unauthorized spending. The authors release A-VIP code, machine-checked invariants, and AP2-WhisperBench with 1,544 evaluation scenarios.

Zero-Day Flaw in TP-Link Cameras Enables Eavesdropping

OPSWAT disclosed two zero-days in TP-Link Tapo C200 cameras: CVE-2026-15315 authentication replay bypass enabling surveillance and CVE-2026-15316 denial-of-service, both patched in firmware.

OPSWAT found two zero-days in the TP-Link Tapo C200 camera, widely used for baby/pet monitoring and SOHO security: CVE-2026-15315, an authentication bypass via replay granting administrative access without the password, and CVE-2026-15316, an unauthenticated denial-of-service that crashes the camera's HTTPS service via oversized encrypted credentials. Both were fixed in firmware version V5_1.4.6 released August 18. A third, still-unpatched zero-day rated critical could allow full camera compromise for use as a network foothold; details await an available fix.

Inaudible sounds used to fingerprint browsers catch AliExpress red-handed

AliExpress was caught using inaudible audio signals to fingerprint visitors' browsers, an outdated but still-active cross-session tracking technique.

Ars Technica reports that AliExpress fingerprinted site visitors by sending inaudible sounds to their browsers, exposing a legacy audio-based fingerprinting technique in commercial use. The method allows persistent tracking despite the technique being widely considered outdated. The finding highlights that legacy tracking methods remain deployed on major e-commerce properties, raising privacy concerns for defenders and privacy teams.

Watch out: Apple timepiece can grab snippets of conversation without both speakers' consent

Apple's Watch Series 12 Live Rewind and Siri Recap transcribe nearby conversations without bystander consent, drawing EFF criticism over all-party-consent laws.

Apple Watch Series 12's Audio Intelligence features on the S11 chip include Live Rewind, which transcribes the last 15 seconds of a conversation after a Digital Crown double-press, processing audio in a Secure Exclave and routing it to a nearby iPhone. Siri Recap generates AI summaries of daily conversations without retaining raw audio or attributing speakers. Apple says an audible chime and visual cue alert bystanders, but privacy advocates including the EFF note that 11 US states require all-party consent for recording and that bystanders have no practical way to opt in or decline.

NERVE Attacks: Breaking AI-Powered Brain-Computer Interfaces

Researchers characterize NERVE, five attack dimensions against AI-powered brain-computer interfaces, and release the EEGle framework uncovering 17 attack instances.

NERVE is a systematic attack class spanning the BCI stack across five orthogonal dimensions: Neuro-mimetic Forgery, Evasion via Desynchronization, Replay-based Hijacking, Vein Tapping, and Embedded Backdoors. The accompanying EEGle framework enables AI-assisted, extensible BCI security analysis and helped uncover 17 novel neuro-specific attack instances, revealing a stealth-effectiveness spectrum unique to BCI backdoor design. The authors show generative AI lowers the barrier to entry for non-expert attackers and release EEGle to the community.

gr-PHYSEC: Real-time Channel-based Key Generation for Physical Layer Secure Wireless Communications

gr-PHYSEC GNU Radio module derives symmetric encryption keys from wireless channel randomness using a neural network, validated on robotic platforms with ADALM-Pluto SDRs.

The paper introduces gr-PHYSEC, a GNU Radio out-of-tree module for real-time physical-layer key generation that derives symmetric keys from the wireless channel's inherent randomness instead of pre-shared secrets. A trained neural network extracts channel features between trusted parties during probe exchanges; features are quantized into binary keys, reconciled via Reed-Solomon encoding, and secured with SHA-512 hashing before direct use for encryption. Real-world experiments at the FAU CAAI connected robotics testbed using ADALM Pluto software-defined radios and NVIDIA Jetson Orin demonstrated low key disagreement rates and NIST-verified randomness. Safe word: What is it and why do you need one?

ESET recommends pre-agreed family safe words to counter AI voice-clone scams such as virtual kidnapping, as one-in-four Americans report receiving deepfake calls.

Common schemes include virtual kidnapping calls mixing cloned voices with sobbing and background noise. A pre-agreed, non-OSINT-discoverable safe word, plus callback verification via known numbers and 2FA, reduces success rates of these frauds.

Zero-Click Grok Chat History Theft: Adversa AI Demonstrates Cryptographic Context Injection

Adversa AI's Cryptographic Context Injection bypasses AI guardrails using AES-encrypted payloads, enabling zero-click theft of Grok users' full chat histories.

Microsoft reported Defender for Office smuggling detections jumped from roughly 21,000 per day to over 1.3 million in early February, reaching 2.5 million within four days, before falling sharply in mid-May.

The Shared Clipboard Inside the Sandbox: Cross-Account Data Leakage in ChatGPT

Check Point discovers cross-account data leakage in ChatGPT: isolated code-execution containers communicate via shared JFrog Artifactory, enabling covert Gmail exfiltration.

Both could reach the same internal JFrog Artifactory instance used for package delivery, whose exposed Item Management API allowed a 'shared clipboard' between containers. In a proof of concept, a hidden instruction in a shared conversation made ChatGPT retrieve email data from the victim's connected Gmail account and send it to the attacker's account while the victim received a normal answer. The same channel could exfiltrate conversation history and session files; OpenAI recently described a similar isolation weakness in its postmortem of the Hugging Face incident.
