Canadian Centre for Cyber Security bulletin AV26-846 states that OpenSSL is affected by vulnerabilities fixed in 1.0.2zr, 1.1.1zi, 3.0.22, 3.4.7, 3.5.8, 3.6.4, and 4.0.2. Given OpenSSL's ubiquity in TLS stacks, administrators should review the OpenSSL advisories and apply updates. The bulletin includes no exploitation details or CVE identifiers.
ZDI-26-577: Trend Micro VPN OpenSSL Configuration Uncontrolled Search Path Element Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability
ZDI disclosed a local privilege escalation (CVE-2026-67212, CVSS 7.0) in Trend Micro VPN's OpenSSL configuration, requiring prior low-privileged code execution.
The Zero Day Initiative published advisory ZDI-26-577 describing an uncontrolled search path element vulnerability in Trend Micro VPN's OpenSSL configuration. Local attackers who can already execute low-privileged code on an affected installation can escalate privileges. ZDI rated the issue 7.0 on CVSS and assigned CVE-2026-67212.

Two CVSS 9.8 Auth Bypasses in miniOrange SAML WordPress Plugin Were Exploited Before Any Database Even Listed the Paid Editions as Vulnerable
Attackers actively exploit two CVSS 9.8 auth bypasses (CVE-2026-61979, CVE-2026-15981) in the miniOrange SAML WordPress plugin, forging SAML responses to become admin.
CVE-2026-61979 is a SAML algorithm confusion flaw that lets attackers sign forged assertions using the identity provider's RSA public key as an HMAC secret; CVE-2026-15981 stems from PHP treating openssl_verify()'s -1 error return as true, allowing a crafted signature that triggers an OpenSSL error to validate. Both bugs independently let unauthenticated attackers obtain WordPress administrator sessions and both are confirmed exploited in the wild. DigitalOcean discovered the exploitation via a network anomaly after public vulnerability databases covered only the Free edition (fixed in 5.4.5), leaving seven independently versioned paid editions appearing patched. Attackers are scanning SSO endpoints from six IPs in Belgium, Nigeria, the US and Germany, and paid-edition fixes require manual uploads across version lines.
Risky Bulletin: White House lets private companies carry out offensive cyber ops
A White House memo directs DHS to create a program letting vetted private companies conduct US-government-directed offensive cyber operations against cybercrime.
A presidential memo tasks the DHS National Coordination Center with building a program, under DOJ and DHS oversight, through which private-sector companies can conduct offensive cyber operations against large-scale cybercrime organizations. Requirements include secure facilities, vetted personnel, a $1 million escrow for damages, and written approvals co-signed by DHS and DOJ executive directors. The program must launch within 60 days, around October 11, expanding a March executive order targeting scam compounds, ransomware, and other large-scale cybercrime.
