Emerging Threat: (CVE-2026-60004) Gitea Remote Code Execution via ...
CVE-2026-60004 (CVSS 9.8) lets attackers with repository write access achieve RCE on self-hosted Gitea servers via malicious git hooks; fixed in 1.27.1.
CVE-2026-60004 is a CWE-94 code injection flaw in Gitea's POST /api/v1/repos/{owner}/{repo}/diffpatch endpoint, disclosed July 28, 2026 with a CVSS v3.1 score of 9.8 and credited to researcher Shai Rod (NightRang3r). An add/add collision with the three-way merge fallback (--3, Git 2.32+) writes attacker-controlled content into the temporary bare clone's hooks directory, where it executes as a live Git hook running commands as the Gitea OS user. Exploitation requires repository write access, but Gitea's default open registration allows anonymous users to obtain it, exposing app.ini secrets, database credentials, OAuth tokens, and mounted repositories; a public PoC requires no outbound callback. All releases from 1.17 through 1.27.0 are affected; the fix shipped in Gitea 1.27.1 on July 27, 2026, and Gitea Cloud instances were upgraded automatically.
N-able Issues Fourth N-central Hotfix in Five Weeks for Unauthenticated RCE Flaw
N-able shipped Hotfix 4 for a CVSS 10.0 unauthenticated RCE (CVE-2026-86218) in N-central RMM, with conflicting statements on exploitation.
N-able released 2026.3 Hotfix 4 (build 2026.3.1.14) fixing CVE-2026-86218, a static code injection weakness (CWE-96) scored 10.0 on CVSS 4.0 that enables pre-authentication remote code execution on on-premises N-central RMM servers. Hosted NCOD instances are already patched; N-able's incident notice says the flaw was observed exploited in the wild while its release notes say exploitation is unconfirmed. Huntress, which has tracked N-central attacks since August, advises IP allowlisting, VPN-only access, or taking internet-reachable servers offline until patching. It is the fourth hotfix in five weeks, following fixes for CVE-2026-86206 and CVE-2026-86207, which CISA added to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

Fortinet did not indicate any of the flaws are being exploited in the wild.
CISA Adds Four Known Exploited Vulnerabilities to Catalog
CISA added four actively exploited vulnerabilities to its KEV catalog, covering Adobe Commerce/Magento, Microsoft Windows, and N-able N-central.
CISA added CVE-2026-75650 (Adobe Commerce and Magento, improper neutralization in a template engine), CVE-2026-81963 (Microsoft Windows link following), CVE-2026-85880 (Microsoft Windows heap-based buffer overflow), and CVE-2026-86218 (N-able N-central static code injection) to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog based on evidence of active exploitation. Under Binding Operational Directive 26-04, federal civilian agencies must prioritize rapid remediation of KEV-listed vulnerabilities on exposed assets that grant total control post-exploitation and check for pre-patch compromise. All organizations are encouraged to prioritize these flaws in risk-based patching.
August 2026 CVE Landscape
Insikt Group catalogs 73 high-impact August 2026 CVEs (43 Very Critical), including PaperCut, Zimbra, and Metabase flaws actively exploited or weaponized.
Recorded Future's Insikt Group identified 73 high-impact vulnerabilities in August 2026, 43 rated Very Critical, spanning 45 vendors with Microsoft accounting for roughly 11%. 31 vulnerabilities surfaced via CISA's KEV catalog, with others validated via open sources, vendor telemetry, and honeypot data. Critical Gitea RCE Actively Exploited as Reported Attack Drops Miner
CISA added actively exploited Gitea RCE CVE-2026-60004 (CVSS 9.8) to the KEV catalog as attackers deploy a cryptojacking dropper.
CVE-2026-60004 is a critical remote code execution flaw affecting Gitea versions 1.17 through 1.27.0, abused via the diffpatch endpoint to install a Git hook and execute shell commands as the Gitea OS user. Default open registration lets unauthenticated attackers obtain the required repository write access. CISA added the flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, giving federal agencies until August 28, 2026 to patch; version 1.27.1 fixes it. A developer reported their HOSTKEY-hosted VPS was exploited to run a miner-like dropper, driving CPU usage above 70% and killing competing processes.
Marimo Notebook Flaw Could Run MCP Commands Before Cells Execute in Edit Mode
Marimo notebook flaw CVE-2026-75149 (CVSS 8.7) allows attacker-supplied MCP commands to run as local subprocesses before any cell executes in edit mode.
Marimo addressed CVE-2026-75149, a high-severity code injection flaw allowing attacker-supplied Model Context Protocol (MCP) commands to execute as local subprocesses when a crafted notebook is opened in edit mode, before any cell runs. The issue affects versions prior to 0.23.15, carries CVSS v4 of 8.7 and CVSS v3.1 of 8.8, and requires user interaction but no authentication. Marimo fixed it in version 0.23.15 (released July 23, 2026) via a PEP 723 hardening patch that treats notebook metadata as attacker-controlled and strips ai, mcp, completion, secrets, and server configuration sections. VulnCheck's CNA also disclosed CVE-2026-67618 (CVSS 7.1), involving an attacker-controlled AI base_url that exfiltrates operator API keys, and earlier CVE-2023-39987, a missing auth on /terminal/ws endpoint allowing full PTY shell access.
