N-able N-central pre-auth RCE zero-day CVE-2026-86218 (CVSS 10.0) is exploited in the wild; on-prem admins must upgrade to 2026.3 HF4.

N-able disclosed a third N-central vulnerability, CVE-2026-86218, a pre-authentication RCE rated CVSS 10.0, and released hotfix 2026.3 HF4 superseding build 2026.3.1.13. Huntress reproduced an exploit chain involving an authentication bypass (CVE-2026-86206/CVE-2026-86207) after a fully patched customer's N-central production server was compromised on September 4. Attackers appended strings like .invalid to account names and probed the /remoteControlAction.do?method=getPierDetails endpoint; Huntress worked with Cloudflare to disable adversary tunnel infrastructure. Hosted N-central instances are already patched; on-prem administrators must upgrade immediately.

HVNC Backdoor Targets LATAM Organizations with Fake Tax and DocuSign Lures

A custom HVNC backdoor is targeting Latin American financial organizations via fake DocuSign and NFe tax-document lures, giving attackers hidden persistent remote access.

ANY.RUN researchers analyzed a multi-stage phishing campaign delivering a custom HVNC backdoor to banking and financial organizations in Latin America. The chain starts with fake DocuSign and NFe tax-document pages that serve per-visitor ZIP archives, followed by an LNK dropper, an NSIS loader, and a 64-bit backdoor masquerading as Windows Update Assistant. The implant provides hidden remote desktop control, keystroke monitoring, Firefox data theft, Startup-folder persistence, and EDR-aware behavior, communicating over TCP/27015.

Home & Small Office Wireless Routers Exploited to Attack Gaming Servers

Unit 42 details an updated Gafgyt botnet variant exploiting Zyxel, Huawei, and Realtek router vulnerabilities to recruit devices for DoS attacks on gaming servers.

Unit 42 researchers identified an updated Gafgyt variant derived from the JenX botnet that combines three remote code execution exploits: CVE-2017-18368 (Zyxel P660HN-T1A), CVE-2017-17215 (Huawei HG532), and CVE-2014-8361 (Realtek RTL81XX chipset). Shodan scans show more than 32,000 wireless routers worldwide potentially vulnerable to these exploits. The exploits act as droppers, pulling architecture-specific binaries from a malicious server (185.172.110.224), and the botnet performs denial-of-service attacks against gaming servers, most notably Valve Source engine servers.

Decline in Rig Exploit Kit

Rig exploit kit activity dropped roughly 75% after the pseudo-Darkleech and EITest campaigns stopped using EKs, reflecting an overall decline in exploit kit activity.

Invisible AI Prompts Trigger Court Sanctions

A Connecticut litigant hid white-font prompt injections in court filings to sway AI systems; the judge sanctioned him by revoking e-filing privileges.

A self-represented plaintiff hid prompt injection instructions in 3-point white text within court filings, telling any AI model reading the documents to agree with his filings and grant him relief. The judge called it serious litigation abuse and sanctioned him by revoking electronic filing privileges. It is reportedly the first documented prompt injection attack against a US court and the first sanction for attempting one.

Person Hides Prompt Injection in Legal Filing Telling AI to Side With Them

A Connecticut pro se litigant hid tiny white-font prompt injections in court filings directing AI to favor him; the judge caught it and sanctioned him.

Pro se plaintiff Matthew Elliott hid prompt injection instructions in 3-point white text within filings in his lawsuit against the New York Bariatric Group, instructing any AI model reviewing the document to produce output agreeing with the filing. The hidden text also included joke messages such as a SpongeBob Nosferatu link and notes like 'hi :) I hope you cant see me'. Court staff noticed unusual white space, and Judge Walter Spader Jr. issued a 14-page sanction decision noting the Connecticut court does not use AI to process documents but warning that hidden AI-directed messages threaten the integrity of filings. Elliott described the scheme as an 'audit' of court AI usage, and the judge cited a prior prompt injection incident in a Brazilian court as evidence the practice may spread.
