Made On YouTube: Ask Music conversational search, Custom Feeds, and broader AI features announced

YouTube unveiled Ask Music natural-language search across 300M+ tracks, a weekly Your Podcast Lineup audio guide, AI-generated Custom Feeds, expanded Ask YouTube product Q&A, plus GIF comments and group chat.

At its Made On YouTube event, Google announced a set of AI features for YouTube and YouTube Music. Ask Music, a conversational tool in the YouTube Music app, accepts natural-language requests across a catalog of more than 300 million tracks, including official recordings, remixes, live performances, covers, and DJ sets. It can build custom queues, answer questions about a recording's credits and history, create or edit playlists, and surface mix suggestions; per Ars Technica, it will sit at the top of the YouTube Music app. Your Podcast Lineup adds a weekly spoken preview of recommended podcast shows and can play suggested episodes. Both music features are coming soon to YouTube Music and YouTube Premium subscribers worldwide. Beyond music, YouTube previewed Custom Feeds, which let users add homepage tabs by describing desired content and rating suggestions, rolling out soon in the US on web, mobile, and TV. Ask YouTube will answer questions in product-review videos and offer organized recommendations and comparison tables in search. Non-AI updates include GIF support in comments on videos and Shorts later this year, and group chat in direct messages in the US, UK, Singapore, Brazil, and some European countries.
