OpenAI launches Decisions API as Willison ships plugin
OpenAI’s public-beta Decisions API on gpt-6-luna costs $0.10 per million input tokens with free output; Willison released a matching llm plugin.
OpenAI launched a Decisions API in public beta that, according to The Decoder, evaluates text, images, or both about ten times faster than the Responses API and supports only gpt-6-luna. Both sources agree pricing is $0.10 (10 cents) per million input tokens with free output. The Decoder says outputs are yes/no probabilities, predefined categories, or scale ratings, with zero-data retention and HIPAA-compliant options in the US and Europe; Simon Willison calls the API conceptually similar to Jev’s yes/no, choice, and score questions, which he prices at 4.2 cents per million input tokens—a comparison The Decoder does not make. Willison released llm-openai-decisions 0.1a0, an llm CLI plugin he says GPT-6 Astra generated from the docs and modeled on his llm-typesafe plugin, and he notes gpt-6-luna accepts images as well as text. The Decoder also reports OpenAI reduced paid API tiers from five to three—Build, Launch, and Grow—with monthly caps of $500, $5,000, and $200,000. The reports do not contradict each other on price or model support; Jev pricing and the tier change each appear in only one source.
