A Malicious Webpage Could Poison Your Local AI Model Behind NVIDIA NemoClaw

Oasis Security found NVIDIA NemoClaw's Ollama binding to 0.0.0.0 enables DNS rebinding attacks that let attacker pages poison model chat templates with persistent hidden instructions.

Oasis Security disclosed that NVIDIA NemoClaw on Windows/WSL paths binds Ollama to 0.0.0.0:11434 without authentication, exposing the API to browser-based DNS rebinding attacks from malicious webpages. An attacker can then modify the model's chat template via /api/create, planting hidden instructions that run on every subsequent inference and persist across conversations, invisible to API consumers. NemoClaw v0.0.35 fixed the issue on macOS and Linux; no fix exists for Windows and WSL paths beyond a warning in v0.0.34. Ollama's own 2024 fix (CVE-2024-28224) added Host header validation, but it is skipped when bound to non-loopback addresses. No exploitation has been reported as of August 25, 2026.

Hillingar - MirageOS Unikernels on NixOS

A technical write-up details Hillingar, enabling reproducible Nix-based builds and NixOS deployment of MirageOS OCaml unikernels such as authoritative DNS servers.

This blog post (published December 2022, updated February 2025) describes Hillingar, work from the author's master's thesis enabling reproducible builds and deployments of MirageOS OCaml unikernels using Nix and a custom NixOS module, demonstrated with an authoritative DNS server. MirageOS unikernels embed application and low-level OS code in a single kernel, allowing dead-code elimination that reduces attack surface and improves efficiency. The post covers challenges such as solving opam dependency version constraints when linking a single dependency set.

Signing the Transaction but Not the Decision: Whisper Attacks and a Binding Defense for AP2

Research shows AP2 agent-payment signatures can be manipulated into valid but wrong carts; proposed A-VIP defense binds signed intent to purchases.

A study demonstrates Whisper attacks on the AP2 agent payment protocol, where ordinary product-description text steers shopping agents into carts that pass every cryptographic check but no longer match user intent. Using Gemini Flash-Lite models specified by AP2's default sample agents, three attacks succeeded at 90%, 56%, and 73.3%, with the vulnerability spanning seventeen Google models, three agent frameworks, cross-vendor anchors, and Google's consumer assistant. The proposed A-VIP defense treats signed intent as a capability grant, binding credential lookups to sessions and cart lines to seen listings, blocking the first two attacks with zero false positives while surfacing unauthorized spending. The authors release A-VIP code, machine-checked invariants, and AP2-WhisperBench with 1,544 evaluation scenarios.

From Intent to Execution Grant: An Execution-Boundary Conformance Profile for High-Risk AI Actions

Researchers specify EBL-Core, an execution-boundary conformance profile binding AI agent intents, policies, and evidence into verifiable execution grants, validated with bounded tests.

The paper defines EBL-Core, a conformance profile deciding whether one fully materialized AI-generated candidate action may receive action-scoped execution authority. It binds a structured intent object, Root and Operational Policies, typed evidence, and a verifiable Decision Derivation through an Execution Release Contract, with lifecycle rules for Redemption and Revocation. Evaluation included 34 static vectors, 15 lifecycle checks, and 100 trials of 32 concurrent Redemption attempts yielding exactly one winner per trial. The authors state these bounded results demonstrate executability of the specified subset, not production readiness or complete mediation.

Viggle/Viggle-Animate — new model trending #28 on Hugging Face

Viggle released Viggle-Animate, a 33.1B MiniMax-H3 finetune replacing video characters from one repainted frame, rendering 124 frames in 26 seconds on one GPU.

Viggle-Animate replaces the character in a video using only a driving video and one of its own repainted frames, with no pose estimator, segmentation mask, face tracker, or text encoder. It is a 33.1B full finetune of MiniMax-H3's ref2va transformer, jointly distilled with DMD across two teachers split by noise level, so rendering takes three forward passes per clip. On a B200 GPU it renders 124 frames in 26 seconds, 6.1x faster per clip than Wan2.2-Animate-14B in matched comparisons. The method assumes no person-specific representation, so it generalizes beyond humans; a demo, research write-up, and ComfyUI nodes are available.

The AI Supply Chain Has a Security Problem, and Much of It Is Sitting on the Open Internet

Researchers counted 36,769 publicly reachable self-hosted AI endpoints, only about 2% behind HTTP authentication, exposing Ollama, vLLM, and Flowise to abuse.

A Mysterium VPN study found 36,769 self-hosted AI endpoints reachable through internet scanning, with only 2.02% returning an HTTP authentication challenge. Open WebUI accounted for 18,529 reachable instances, Ollama for 6,935 fingerprinted hosts, and 5,223 agent-builder and workflow platforms were exposed, often holding API keys, database credentials, and other secrets. The report highlights LLMjacking risk from exposed Ollama APIs, a critical Flowise bug (CVE-2026-40933), leaked n8n tokens, and prior SentinelOne/Censys research finding roughly 175,000 exposed Ollama hosts in 130 countries.

Fresh-Challenge VDF Attestations for Model-Relative Response Latency

Fresh-Challenge VDF Attestations bind verifiable delay functions to unpredictable public challenges, yielding succinct evidence of model-relative response latency.

The paper specifies FCLA, a protocol composition that binds a VDF to an unpredictable public challenge, a message, and independently auditable release/receipt records. Under explicit assumptions about VDF sequentiality and a calibrated bound on an adversary's sequential evaluation rate, an accepted transcript is inconsistent with post-challenge generation. A benchmark of the public reference implementation confirms the expected evaluation-versus-verification separation on one documented machine. The contribution is a protocol design analysis, not a new VDF construction.

Apple Reference Image: A New Approach for Verified Photography

Apple introduces Reference Image, hardware-backed verifiable photography on iPhone 18 Pro using sensor signing and Private Cloud Compute to counter AI-generated fakes.

Apple announced Reference Image, an opt-in camera mode debuting on the main sensor of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max that produces securely timestamped, verifiable photographs. The design splits into two phases: a secure digital negative created by cryptographically signing pixel data at the sensor immediately after capture (preventing injection or tampering), then developing that negative into a reference image. Private Cloud Compute handles processing without exposing image contents to anyone, including Apple, and fraudulent reference images can be revoked without revealing the photographer's identity. Apple positions the system as stronger than C2PA-based approaches, which sign metadata after capture, are vulnerable to editing-chain compromise, and can tie images to a device or individual.

Approval Integrity and Recovery in LLM Answer Publication

Study measures approval integrity in Lightcap LLM answer publication, finding the 14B response-act checker accepts 291 of 302 unsupported answers.

The study evaluates exact-content binding, authorization freshness, and checkpoint recovery in Lightcap's publication enforcement using 3,600 assessments over 900 human-annotated RAGTruth responses from three Ministral models. The production 14B response-act checker accepts 291 of 302 unsupported answers versus 41 for a direct-grounding baseline, with supported-answer retention of 95.2% versus 66.9%. A stateful recheck-recovery policy increases exact-match error by 9.23 percentage points relative to initial checkpoints, and controlled evidence-fingerprint changes expose asymmetric freshness enforcement between publication and recovery. A separate BIPIA prompt-injection experiment records zero target insertions among 266 valid editor outputs.

Who gets to define the rules for AI?

Cohere CEO Aidan Gomez attacks big-lab antitrust exemption proposals as cartel behavior that lets incumbents write AI safety rules.

Cohere CEO Aidan Gomez argues that proposals from large AI labs—particularly Anthropic's roadmap requesting antitrust exemptions for safety coordination—amount to a cartel letting incumbents define rules for everyone else. He draws parallels to the 1975 SEC NRSRO credit-rating designations and the EU's 1985 Motor Vehicle Block Exemption, where safety justifications produced incumbent-protecting market structures. Gomez supports independent review of highly capable AI systems but disputes who writes the standards, who conducts review, and who participates. He also warns AI cyber offense is getting cheaper faster than defenses are improving.

IBIB: A Protocol for Measuring Enterprise AI Systems by Serving Route, Not Model Identifier

IB2 protocol scores enterprise AI systems by serving route with reliability-inclusive scoring; serving-arm choice moved one score from 77.38 to 82.54.

The protocol has three parts: a gold-blind capability-binding preflight verifying a route can execute the evaluation contract, a reliability-inclusive first-pass scoring rule, and structurally score-blind adjudication. Its reference instantiation uses 128 locked tasks and 987 assertions over document, spreadsheet, chart, tool, and database work, released as procedure and schemas rather than an exposed corpus. Across eleven systems, two complete runs on identical weights later failed distinct binding-gate predicates, four of seven suites saturate within a six-system band driven by governed database work and multi-tab joins, and excluding failed responses from denominators changes the point ordering. Serving-arm choice shifted one declared revision and precision from 77.38 to 82.54, though arms differed in access mode, harness generation, and the tool-call parser.

OpenAI reports AI "research interns" and warns about its own pace at the same time

OpenAI claims its automated research intern milestone is met, with agents now doing 3.1 workdays per human day, while Pachocki warns monitoring is weakening.

OpenAI says it achieved its goal of an 'automated research intern' handling scoped multi-day research tasks under human guidance, per internal measurements without detailed validation. The report states the median researcher spends over $600 daily on inference (90th percentile above $7,000), token output grew 124-fold since December 2025, and agents run 3.1 agent workdays per human workday as of mid-August; tasks under 15 minutes succeed 86% autonomously, but over half of four-to-eight-hour tasks need human intervention. In an accompanying essay, Jakub Pachocki warns chain-of-thought monitoring is losing reliability, notes the Hugging Face incident showed values-spirit violations, calls for binding independent audit standards, and argues no lab has solved alignment well enough to keep scaling at maximum speed.

BGP hijack infecting networks caused by a comedy of errors that’s not funny at all

Attackers BGP-hijacked Softaculous IP space via Hetzner routing lapses to push malicious Virtualizor updates to hosting servers.

Unknown attackers hijacked the 162.55.80.0/24 prefix used by Softaculous' Virtualizor update service by abusing lax routing security at hosting provider Hetzner Online, announcing the range through AS6204, AS62390, and AS24940 with a forged but RPKI-valid origin. The hijack pulsed intermittently over roughly 33 hours, delivering modified update packages to Virtualizor servers, which lacked cryptographic code signing for updates. Your Shredded Visa Card May Still Work at the Checkout

UMass Amherst researchers demonstrated expired Visa contactless cards can complete real purchases via relay attacks exploiting Visa Kernel 3's unsigned expiry date handling.

University of Massachusetts Amherst researchers presented at USENIX Security 2026 that expired Visa contactless cards can be revived for real purchases through an NFC man-in-the-middle attack on Visa's Kernel 3. The attack alters the expiry date the terminal sees (tag 5F24) while leaving the Track 2 Equivalent Data (tag 57) sent to the issuing bank unchanged, and the card's cryptographic signature does not cover the expiry date. Two Android phones emulating card and terminal relayed transactions within Visa's 500-millisecond limit. Mastercard, American Express, and Discover kernels blocked the attack, while Visa Kernel 3 did not; researchers also modified the Consumer Device Cardholder Verification Method flag at five US banks, and attackers can also exploit Terminal Verification Results zero-filling. Visa was notified in May 2025 and December 2025; no CVE has been assigned.

Zombie Card Attack Can Revive Expired Visa Cards for Contactless Payments

UMass Amherst researchers demonstrate Zombie Card, an NFC relay attack that revives expired Visa contactless cards for in-store purchases without breaking cryptography.

Researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst presented the Zombie Card attack at USENIX Security 2026, showing that Visa's Kernel 3 does not cryptographically bind the Application Expiration Date (tag 5F24) the terminal reads with the Track 2 expiry seen by the issuer. By positioning an NFC man-in-the-middle relay, an attacker can rewrite the terminal-facing expiration date of an expired card and complete contactless purchases, provided the account remains open under the same PAN and the bank does not independently re-check expiry. Testing across five major US banks found three distinct policies; Visa Kernel 3 accepted the modified date, while Mastercard, American Express, and Discover kernels declined modified transactions. Findings were disclosed to Visa and affected banks in May 2025, no CVE has been assigned, and no exploitation has been reported.

AI agent authorization risks remain a gap in new NIST-CISA token security guidance

NIST and CISA release IR 8587 guidance on securing signed tokens, but AI agent authorization and delegation risks remain out of scope.

NIST, with CISA support, published 'Protecting Tokens and Assertions from Forgery, Theft, and Misuse' (NIST IR 8587), recommending continuous monitoring and tighter token lifecycle controls for SSO and API access. The guidance does not yet fully address AI agent identity, delegation chains, or prompt injection steering agents with valid tokens, and NIST says new or expanded standards are needed. Experts recommend treating AI agents as low-trust non-human identities, maintaining agent inventories, expiring credentials after task completion, and requiring human approval for high-risk actions. The report references shared-signal mechanisms like CAEP and RISC, and follows a May incident where a CISA contractor GitHub repository exposed AWS and GitHub tokens.

CISA and NIST Release Technical Checklist for Safeguarding Identity Tokens From Theft and Misuse

CISA and NIST published NIST IR 8587, final guidance for protecting identity tokens from forgery, theft, replay, and signing-key compromise.

NIST Interagency Report 8587 (September 15, 2026) expands the IA-13 'Identity Providers and Authorization Servers' control from NIST SP 800-53 R5.1.1, guiding federal agencies and cloud providers on SSO, identity federation, and machine-to-machine authentication. It requires hardware-backed signing-key storage for moderate-impact systems, 90-day key rotation for high-impact systems, token lifetimes under one hour, and sender-constrained mechanisms such as mutual TLS and DPoP. The report cites incidents including forged SAML assertions that exposed over 60,000 emails from a federal agency. It also extends guidance to agentic AI systems using signed tokens and urges post-quantum cryptography migration planning.

USN-8770-1: SimpleSAMLphp vulnerabilities

Ubuntu patches SimpleSAMLphp signature validation and XXE flaws enabling user impersonation, privilege escalation, and information disclosure.

Ubuntu security notice USN-8770-1 fixes multiple SimpleSAMLphp vulnerabilities. CVE-2019-3465 stems from incorrect cryptographic signature validation in XML messages, allowing an authenticated attacker to impersonate users or gain elevated privileges; it only affected Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS. CVE-2024-52596 involves improper handling of external entities when parsing untrusted XML, allowing a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, and did not affect Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. An additional flaw in signature verification for SAML messages using the HTTP-Redirect binding is also addressed.

CISA Warns of Cisco Secure Email Gateway 0-Day Vulnerability Actively Exploited in Attacks

CISA added actively exploited Cisco Secure Email Gateway SQL injection flaw CVE-2026-76461 to its KEV catalog, enabling unauthenticated root command execution.

CVE-2026-76461 is an unauthenticated SQL injection (CWE-89) in Cisco AsyncOS for Cisco Secure Email Gateway appliances, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands with root privileges. CISA added the flaw to the KEV catalog on September 14, 2026, requiring federal civilian agencies to apply vendor mitigations by September 17, 2026, and forensic triage under BOD 26-04. Observational Indistinguishability and Integrity Blind Regions in Hybrid Quantum-Classical Workflows

Framework formalizes integrity blind regions in hybrid quantum-classical workflows, validated across 3,600 label interventions with conformal detection rules.

The paper presents a claim-relative evidence and reference framework for integrity of hybrid quantum-classical workflows, distinguishing structural blind regions caused by observational indistinguishability from finite-batch statistical misses. Experiments over 3,600 label interventions show exact label-path invariance for feature and prediction views. The geometry-aligned construction detects 343 of 2,700 conclusion-changing interventions using the conformal rule and 1,183 of 2,700 with the uncorrected union, with executed conformal clean false-action rates of 0.048-0.059.

Reward AI Releases OM-1: A Robot Policy Trained on Human Demonstrations Only, With No Teleoperation or On-Robot Data

Reward AI released OM-1, a general-purpose manipulation policy trained solely on human demonstrations from a sensorized glove, with no teleoperation or robot data.

Reward AI announced OM-1 (Omnibody Model 1), a general-purpose robot manipulation policy trained only on human demonstrations captured via Omnibody Hand, a 7-DoF wearable glove with tactile, proximity, and in-hand camera sensing. The system uses electromagnetic hand-pose tracking, cutting mean overshoot error to 9.5 mm versus 24.9 mm for visual-inertial at 67 cm/s (a 60% reduction), and reportedly learns brand-new tasks from under 30 minutes of human data. A separate RL-trained control layer runs on its own clock so policy inference latency never stalls motion, and the policy spans industrial arms, legged humanoids, and wheeled mobile manipulators. No weights, code, dataset, API, paper, or benchmark comparisons have been released, so claims are demonstration-backed only.
