Progress Software security advisory (AV26-875)

Canada's Cyber Centre warns Progress Telerik UI for ASP.NET AJAX before 2026.3.812 is affected by path traversal and upload tampering flaws, urging updates.

The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security issued advisory AV26-875 on September 2, 2026, covering vulnerabilities in Progress Software Telerik UI for ASP.NET AJAX prior to version 2026.3.812. Two flaws are listed: CVE-2026-18672, a path traversal in the Telerik Web Forms RadImageEditor, and CVE-2026-19219, a DialogHandler UploadPaths tampering vulnerability. Administrators are encouraged to review the provided links and apply available updates.

Telerik UI Padding-Oracle Bug Chained to Unauthenticated RCE — Public Exploit Released

TantoSec published a working exploit chaining a Telerik UI padding oracle to unauthenticated RCE; Progress patched the flaws in July.

TantoSec's Marcio Almeida released a full exploit chain and tooling for the RadAsyncUpload control in Telerik UI for ASP.NET AJAX, turning a padding oracle (CVE-2026-13182) into unauthenticated RCE via an unguarded type-resolution flaw (CVE-2026-13181, CVSS 8.1). Exploitation requires a rendered RadAsyncUpload handler and an explicit non-default encryption key, and took roughly 127,000 oracle requests (about an hour) in lab testing. Versions 2010.1.309 through 2026.2.519 are affected; Progress fixed the chain in 2026.2.708 on July 8, 2026, and no in-the-wild exploitation has been confirmed. A separate RCE chain in RadPersistenceManager and RadDockLayout (CVE-2026-13185, -13186, -13190) was also patched but has no public exploit.

IDORacle: Template-Guided SQL-Sink Mediation for Object-Level Authorization in Java Applications

IDORacle intercepts MyBatis/JDBC SQL sinks to block horizontal privilege escalation in legacy Java apps with sub-millisecond guard latency.

IDORacle is a template-guided SQL-sink interception and rewriting framework that prevents IDOR/BOLA horizontal privilege escalation at runtime in Java database applications. It propagates authenticated identity context across HTTP requests, asynchronous tasks, and data-access boundaries via a server-side trace identifier, and computes dual SQL fingerprints at the MyBatis/JDBC boundary to generate reusable mediation plans. On a Java-SQL benchmark grounded in real-world CVE reports, it blocks tested violations with worst-case guard latency of 0.17 ms, reduced to 0.017 ms average for hot templates via redundancy-aware optimization.

Agent-net Open Sources Webagent: A Go Harness That Turns Any Website into a Guarded AI Agent

Agent-net open-sourced Webagent, a Go harness turning websites into AI agents with code-enforced guardrails wrapping every tool call.

Agent-net released Webagent under Apache 2.0, a Go framework where a business fills in a declarative JSON spec, picks one provider for each of nine pluggable slots (retrieval, memory, guardrail, channel, secrets, presenter, model, action, observability), and runs webagent serve. Every tool the agent holds is wrapped by action.Guard so the chosen guardrail executes before any action runs and the model cannot bypass it. Live capabilities include OpenRouter/gateway LLM brains, MCP tools over Streamable HTTP, and Slack, WhatsApp, and HTTP channels; browser actions, OAuth-gated MCP, OTel export, and AgentNet identity/billing are not yet built. The project is v0 with a deferred-hardening list and cites arXiv 2511.19477 on an 85% versus 50% task-success gap attributed to architecture over model capability.

An Empirical Analysis of CodeQL False Positives and Query Refinements for Java Vulnerabilities

Study of 167 Java CVE instances finds CodeQL false positives follow recurring patterns; query refinements remove 81.8% of reviewed ones.

Researchers ran CodeQL's Java security query suite on 167 CVE instances from 110 projects, manually reviewing 500 sampled false-positive paths and building a five-category taxonomy led by Missed Path Constraint or Sanitization (36.6%), Benign Execution Context (29.4%), and Missing Trust Boundary Modeling (27.6%). Guided by the taxonomy, query-level refinements removed 81.8% of reviewed false positives and 15.8% of reported paths across the selected queries while retaining 7 of 8 true positives. To address generalization, agentic coding tools given the refinement patterns as templates adapted them to new projects successfully in 56% and 62% of tasks, versus 28% without guidance.

Access Control as Verified Parse Constraints

Researchers verify a class of EverParse validators that correctly enforce access-control policies, deploying a machine-checked enforcement gate on seL4.

The paper targets enforcement-code bugs in commercial security gateways by proving that forward-only, backtrack-free EverParse validators are verified recognizers for a bounded finite-state class that includes access-control decision functions with fixed-offset fields and bounded disjunction. Encoding a bounded policy language into a fixed-size byte buffer allows an SMT solver to verify the enforcement code once, covering all byte values, policies, requests, and sessions. Editing rule content over a fixed endpoint set requires no new proof, while adding endpoints reruns the toolchain. A deployment on the seL4 microkernel ensures every request passes through the gate and unverified components cannot corrupt the enforcement chain.

ActGuard: Pre-execution Action Auditing against Indirect Prompt Injection in LLM Agents

ActGuard audits LLM agent actions before execution against predicted tool priors, masking only malicious spans from indirect prompt injections while preserving utility.

ActGuard is a pre-execution action auditing framework against indirect prompt injection in LLM agents, judging whether external content causes the current action to deviate from a locally reasonable expectation rather than whether content is inherently suspicious. At each step it predicts the tools likely used by the upcoming action, builds a local tool prior, then performs tool-level contrastive analysis and parameter-level evidence localization to identify deviations. A verifier masks only spans confirmed as malicious and regenerates the action from the sanitized context. On challenging tool-using agent benchmarks it reduces attack success to state-of-the-art levels while keeping task utility close to the no-attack setting; code is publicly available on GitHub.

It shows Top-N selection does not reflect the overall web distribution and may bias observed vulnerability rates, while probability-based strategies yield stable, unbiased prevalence and impact estimates. Hybrid sampling offers no advantage because its deterministic prefix consistently hurts accuracy, and the authors propose an adaptive probability-based strategy effective even when target prevalence is unknown.
