Google previews Gemini enterprise agent for work tasks
Google is privately previewing a Gemini Enterprise agent that plans and acts across Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, and other tools.
On October 8, 2026, Google introduced a unified Gemini agent for businesses, in private preview for enterprise customers. The Verge calls the setting a Gemini at Work event and TechCrunch a Google Cloud event. The agent takes work objectives from one interface, plans tasks, and acts across Google Workspace, mobile, desktop, web, Slack, and Microsoft 365; TechCrunch also lists Jira, BigQuery, and any MCP server. Cloud execution is said to keep the same context across devices, and the agent can call job-specific sub-agents or act as a coworker with its own company email or Workspace identity and an audit trail. The sources disagree on model choice: The Verge says the agent automatically selects a model, while TechCrunch says users can route tasks to Gemini or Anthropic’s Claude, with more models planned. Google distinguishes the product from the consumer Gemini Spark agent launched in May, and TechCrunch reports a wider consumer rollout will wait until security, scale, and performance issues are addressed.
