Google is about to remove free access to Gemini Flash and Pro

Google will restrict free Gemini users to Flash Lite and move Flash and Pro behind paid plans.

Starting October 9, free Google Gemini users will be limited to the Flash Lite model. Standard Gemini Flash will require the $4.99 monthly Google AI Plus subscription, which will also lose Gemini Pro. Gemini Pro and the Deep Think reasoning option will be limited to Google AI Pro at $19.99 or Ultra at $99.99 per month. Google said higher effort settings can consume usage limits faster.

Google says Gemini 4 Argon can find and patch critical software flaws

Google launched frontier model Gemini 4 Argon, claiming it can find and patch critical software flaws without human help.

Google announced Gemini 4 Argon and is first giving it to trusted cyber defenders through the Fairwind Program, including a version without cyber guardrails for those defenders and internal teams. Google says the model can find, validate, and patch critical flaws without human help, and that Wiz used it to find an unnamed healthcare-software flaw exposing personal data that earlier frontier models missed. Google reports 77.9% on DeepSWE v1.1, 68% on CWE-bench v1, and 91.7% on LVBench, and set an introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens before rates double. It raised the output limit to 1 million tokens and says it is strengthening cyber and CBRN safeguards before a broader release.
